Swamp Monster Scott Pruitt used EPA to help wife contact Chick-Fil-A for work

http://thehill.com/policy/energy-env...-franchise-for

An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) aide was enlisted by Administrator Scott Pruitt to set up a call with the president of the fast-food company Chick-fil-A to inquire about a business opportunity for Pruitt's wife, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

The call was first set up by Sydney Hupp, Pruitt's executive scheduler, in an email to Dan Cathy, Chick-fil-A chairman and president, asking if he would meet with Pruitt to discuss “a potential business opportunity," according to an internal agency email released by the Sierra Club in response to a Freedom of Information Act request. The Post first reported on the email.

According to the Post, Pruitt himself later spoke on the phone with someone from the company's legal department — just months after he took the helm of the EPA — to ask about the possibility of his wife, Marlyn Pruitt, becoming a Chick-fil-A franchisee.

Scott Pruitt Must Do His Job, Federal Judge Rules

A federal court has ruled that Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt must actually do his job.

Pruitt has publicly claimed that carbon dioxide is not known to be a major cause of climate change. Now, according to Ars Technica, a U.S. district judge for the District of Columbia ruled on Tuesday (June 5) that the EPA must comply with a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to disclose any evidence it has supporting that claim.

The case dates back to a March 2017 television appearance Pruitt made on the CNBC show "Squawk Box," during which he claimed that "there's a tremendous disagreement about of [sic] the impact" of "human activity on the climate," and that human-made carbon emissions are not "a primary contributor to the global warming that we see."

The administrator's claims flatly contradicted previous scientific reports released by the EPA before Pruitt took office, as well as mountains of evidence supported by an overwhelming majority of climate scientists.

A nonprofit group called Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) heard Pruitt's surprising claims and, the next day, filed an FOIA request asking the EPA to disclose any documents that Pruitt used to reach his conclusions. When the EPA refused to comply, PEER sued the agency. (This is not the only lawsuit against Pruitt's EPA.)

[...]

Howell ultimately ruled that the EPA must comply with PEER's FOIA request and share any documents it has supporting Pruitt's claim that human-made carbon dioxide is not a significant contributor to global climate change. The EPA must comply with the request by July 2 and, if it cannot provide any documents, release a report explaining their absence by July 11.

“When the head of an agency makes a public statement that appears to contradict ‘the published research and conclusions of’ that agency, the FOIA provides a valuable tool for citizens... Compliance with such a request would help ‘ensure an informed citizenry, vital to the functioning of a democratic society.’”

Meanwhile, Pruitt's EPA is still far better than the last minute emissions fatwas hurriedly ululated just two weeks before the end of the Obama EPA ayatollahs who made cars much more expensive for the common folk that have to buy them.

The second fatwa of Obama's EPA ayatollahs was much worse— decreeing that an inert, plants-breath-it gas, carbon dioxide, be classified an “exhaust emission” and regulated asa a danger to air quality and public health. Of course it does neither. It's nonsense conjecture.

This is The Swamp Trump was referring to—the direction of the country which a large majority have been consistently unhappy based on polls since 2004 including this UN goal of regulating our lives under climate hysteria and making living harder and disliked by most.

Yeah, demanding Pruitt release his data, while they don't have to release theirs. The left, always accusing others of what they do. Probably went judge and venue shopping for this one. We just saw the SC overturn the "Cake Baker" decision.

And "public" employees? Those are the members of the Deep State.

Indeed. The "Dear Leader" Obama instructed his administration and John Holden to bury business in unnecessary and burdensome regulations - to the tune of nearly 40,000 new regulations over the course of 8 years.

This topic about Pruitt when googled, comes up with the usual major anti-Trump ( TDS'ers) culprits–WaPo, NYTs, CNN, CNBC, CBS, MSNBC, The Independent, Slate, Newsweek, theHill ( kind of a mix) etc. That's all that comes up in my listings. Nothing that reports other information on it. This is the new google algorithms at work.

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather Pruitt no have done some of the things he did—like the condo rental from a lobbyist....though that saved money, it just provides fodder for the left. But this Chick-fil-a complaint is minor. The constant attacks, as they follow every move of Pruitt, is coming from Obama groupies who know it will be tough to get a replacement—exactly what they're trying to do.

Here's why I think Pruitt must stay:
Pruitt has emerged as the limited-government star of the Cabinet, methodically working to dismantle environmental restrictions. No Senate-confirmable replacement would be as effective an advocate for the president’s policy agenda, said Mike McKenna, a Republican energy strategist.

“Because you can’t get anyone else through the Senate, you will wind up with the modern-day equivalent of Christine Todd Whitman, who will spend every second of every day trying to obstruct the president’s agenda,” McKenna said, referring to the former New Jersey governor and moderate Republican who led the EPA under President George W. Bush.

Pruitt denies that CO2 from human activity is the main driver of climate change. He's being sued over that denial and a federal judge has now required him to provide evidence for his denial since it contradicts global scientific consensus in addition to data and studies from the EPA itself. It's that simple.

“When the head of an agency makes a public statement that appears to contradict ‘the published research and conclusions of’ that agency, the FOIA provides a valuable tool for citizens... Compliance with such a request would help ‘ensure an informed citizenry, vital to the functioning of a democratic society.’”

I smell fish reading that link by Fish. It stinks.

Names one scientist and sells the same old worn-out generality claiming "scientists" and "consensus" plural without those names. Of course it names a UN source where the socialist scam to regulate the hell out of our lives originated; where the goal to force us all into smart cities originated. Global totalitarians.
