It's worth mentioning again: This Game Is Our Season

While much of CP has checked out on 2014, it's important to remember that the Chiefs ultimately rely on no one but themselves to get into the playoffs. If they lose one game over the next two weeks, they're out. But if they win, they not only will be in, they will have beaten all their competitors to get there (Bills, Dolphins, Steelers, Chargers 2 x's) -- that would be utterly astounding. Not only did most of us project a sub-.500 season (I projected 7-9), this hypothetically 10-win team could very easily have been 12-wins if not for slamming its own dick in the two drawers of Oakland and Nashville.

That being said, the following things absolutely must happen for the Chiefs to win -- and I should know, because I post here instead of working on Reid's coaching staff:

1. Start Vance Walker as the top DE over Allen Bailey. Walker is tons better against the run than Bailey is, who is just getting erased in the run game this year. You also don't lose a ton of passrushing either, as Walker is plenty talented in that department.

2. Play Fleming over Owens as the #3 CB. Owens has given us everything he's got, but Fleming is looking like another bargain bin finding by Dorsey at the CB position. His ability to track receivers and change directions fluidly is going to be sorely needed against Marcus Wheaton and Antonio Brown.

3. Play Avant as the #2 WR, and Wilson as your #3. You can't trust Avant to make plays for us for a whole year, but we can sure expect him to make plays for a couple weeks. Avant is perfect for this offense and can threaten deep. Wilson has performed extremely well, especially considering the Cardinals' secondary is one of the league's best. He's giving us 3-4 receptions a week.

4. Bring back the three TE set. The entire offense went off track when Harris went down and we abandoned the three TE sets, which Smith clearly loves. Anthony Sherman can play as the third TE, or even better, get Gordon involved -- he clearly outplayed Harris in the preseason.

5. Start Linkenbach. For the love of all that is holy. Friends don't let friends play McGlynn.

6. Play Hammond over Thomas at punt returner. Frankie Hammond has been an excellent returner when Thomas has either been injured or benched, and doesn't make Thomas' weekly bone-headed decisions with the ball. The Chiefs aren't going to win by striking out hoping to hit a home run -- which has been Thomas' MO this year. They're going to win by hitting singles and doubles, which Hammond can do.

Don't care. This is a weird post. Irrelevant data.

Bottom line, the Steelers do not have a defense as bad as has been implied.

You sure? Last week they gave up screen plays of 10, 12, 41 and 46 yards. That's pretty terrible.

They also don't have an OL as good as implied. Watch their game last week. Worst team in the league got pressure on Big Ben a lot. He's just hard to bring down and dumps it to Bell when he's in trouble.

How many points did they allow?

The Chiefs have scored more than 23 points ONE TIME on the road this year.

How many points has our run defense allowed? Or team? Or redone TD defense?

Chiefs haven't allowed a 300 yard passer after facing Manning twice, Rivers and Brady. I understand you hate this franchise, but they've proven enough this season to at least give them a chance in this game.

Pitt's offense is on Denver's level....we didn't really stop Denver at all this year...so the Steelers will score at least 24 points, and probably closer to 30.

Sorry, the Chiefs have no hope. We will need 28 points to win this game and well, our QB is Alex Smith. Fu*******.

Were you not the same dumbass that gave KC zero chance against Buffalo? or NE? Hell, the Chiefs have had a chance in just about every game.

I wouldn't put money on them winning @ Pitt either, but to say there is no chance is.. well.. typical Claynus potato.

No. In fact that game was the beginning of my great deception. I was lied to. Made to think this team was legitimate.

They are frauds and I am a fool.

Go Steelers. Crack some skulls.

Pitt's offense is not on Denver's level

We'll win if we get to the QB

we'll lose if we don't

Pitt is inconsistent. They have an A game that we certainly can't compete with, but they also have a D game that rears it's ugly head pretty often.

I liken this to the San Diego game earlier this year. No one really thought we could win, but we did.

I think it's a coin flip.

Points per game:

Pittsburgh 27.8
Denver: 29.1

Yards per play:

Pittsburgh: 6.2
Denver: 6.0

Third down percentage:

Pittsburgh: 45.5
Denver: 44.1

Pitt's offense is definitely on Denver's level. Denver is a tad better to be sure, but the Steelers are a legitimate elite offense. With a better running game to boot.

We are walking into a buzzsaw.
