Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

I've got some Bear ammo for my SKS. It's got some kind of a coating ("brown bear" ammo so lacquer?) or something on the casing that makes it have kind of a grey-green hew. Not sure if as bad as the wolf stuff but its for the sks so I don't really care.

Anyone know the difference between the Russian Bear Ammo and the Russian Wolf ammo?

Give it time. Before you know it, you will be experimenting with different powders, bullets, etc.

Chronograph will come next.

I have a pretty extensive test regiment for a new rifle with a mix of powder brands and loads.

I usually shoot 10 shot groups with each load and keep accurate records. I try to NOT know what load I am shooting or see where the bullet hits to keep the psychology factor out.

An excellent load should yield sub 1" groups at 100 yards. I have had ragged holes, and I have shot 5-6" groups (my normal AR-10 hates Hornaday and Varget).

It will piss me off when I have a ragged hole going in a group, then catch a flyer that completely ****s the group up. Sometimes a bullet is just bad. The new 155 grain Palmas have been doing this. Frustrating.

We got bears, we got wolfs, we got tigers! Those Russians really know how to market there ammo. I'm eagerly awaiting the next carnivore ammo from the ruskies. Maybe it will be Russian T-Rex exploding ammo...

Well.. since I last posted.

Traded the Mini 14 and a dick ton of ammo for a boat. It is a 1973 Tom Sawyer with an inboard/outboard motor in full working condition.

Bought a Keltec Sub2000 in 9mm.

Bought a Colt's Govt Model 1911 in a .22lr which I just traded today for a S&W Model 10 revolver.

Bought a Beretta 950 Jetfire.

Oh yeah... forgot to brag. I'm also sitting on 1800 rounds of 9mm that I paid .24CPR for.

I'm intrigued to know more about the 22 colt. How much? I think I could settle for that over a colt gov .45 if the price makes it worth it.
