Sorry to say but the deck is stacked against you. It may work out great (and I hope it does), but it's more difficult to have a lasting relationship when it starts off that young. At 16 you don't know who you are yet. Hell, at 21 you probably still don't. You're still growing, maturing, and gaining life experience.

Going to have to agree as strongly as I can here. In the modern world this is what I would call a recipe for disaster. As sweet as the fairytale of you two being together forever might be. The reality is she probably has dudes hitting her up left and right online and in person. Curiosity, due to the sheer number of options, almost always wins out. It's gotta be tough on you also.

I'd tell any dude to have fun and date different girls during his 20s and look to lock something down at 30-40 that is 5-10 years younger than you. There is an unbelievable power shift when you turn thirty that is worth waiting for and if you take care of yourself, build a career, and live in a larger city you will have all the power.

Take it from a late thirties dude who just got asked for my number by a 23 year old last week.

Be careful with that. Last year my GF of 8 years decided she wanted to end things, I coped by getting drunk every night to feel better. Mornings got worse and worse, 4 months later I was being checked into rehab and pretty much on suicide watch.

Keep telling yourself that she doesn't want you anymore and there's nothing you can do to change that. Nothing at all. Think back to all the little signs that she was pulling away, they were probably invisible back then but clearer now. If you don't accept that its over and that you are now a single man, you will just torture yourself (that was my biggest mistake).

Make a list of all the things she did to treat you badly or that you didn't like about her. In your case, obsess on the fact that she didn't even have the integrity to break up with you first, she cheated on you instead. Replace the longing and flow of good memories with anger and bad memories.

Get out and meet people - not just women and not just for sex/relationships. Just get some friends. They are invaluable.
