I don't see why he can't get 600 yards and a few TD's this year.

It's too small a sample size.

You sound like BossChief with his extrapolations right now. "Well he averaged 16 YPC and if you extrapolate that over a full 16 game season with 10 catches per game he'd have ended the season with 2,400 yards and 18 TDs!"

Donnie Avery isn't even on an NFL roster and his career is pretty much over for the most part, while Wilson is battling it out for a starting job in his 2nd year and by all accounts is an ascending player that the coaches are very high on. Just shut the **** up already. You're wrong.

That's because he's an injury prone speed receiver on the wrong side of 30. Any team that signed him would be getting a stop gap that isn't even that good to begin with.

It makes more sense in the long run to go with the younger guy even though the younger guy hasn't proven much as of yet, which is why your claims of him already being the better player are absurd at this point.

Because he's the fourth passing option at best behind Maclin Kelce and Charles.

Most of the attention will go to Maclin, Kelce and JC, so Wilson will have single coverage. Wilson has proven that he can get open and get lots of yards after the catch because he's got solid speed. He proved that as the number 2 WR in multiple games.

Crossing routes and screens will be big for him, Conley and DAT. And Andy's system spreads the ball around a lot.
Basically these guys are going to get the ball in their hands and basically be returners from then on.

It's not unrealistic to think Wilson could put up stats similar to Avery if he stays healthy. Those weren't even monster stats anyway. It was about 600 yards and 2 TD's for Christ sakes.

I find it funny that you mention Wilson's ankle sprain as an excuse when you just averaged Avery's career numbers including the years in which he was dealing with injuries.

You're also saying Wilson could potentially put together some 500 yard seasons, which would put him right in line with Avery's average yardage per season that you just lambasted?

They're both small, speedy WRs with injury concerns. One is still learning the game while the other has shown NFL production over a relatively lengthy career.. And the guy that's not shown sustained production is the better player? He may well end up being better, but as of now you can't make that determination.
The point is that Donnie Avery is easily replaceable.

Whether it's Wilson or someone else, 475 yards and 2 TD's for a starting NFL receiver is pretty freaking pathetic.

Seriously. Not a single poster on this entire board has lamented over the fact that Donnie Avery is no longer on the roster.
