Dorsey using comp picks to gain edge in draft
http://archive.greenbaypressgazette....ensatory-picks
Packers employed this strategy for years and it's paid off bigtime. They've let big talents go in order to gain comp picks without overpaying. With their comp picks, they've recently acquired solid talents such as Mike Daniel, Davon House, Josh Sitton and this year Richard Rodgers. They've also drafted Matt Hasselbeck and Marco Rivera in the past using comp picks. Love this strategy. Having 4 picks in the top 100 gives you one extra chance to hit on a player, or use a 3rd or 4th to move up to get a player you like without losing value. The best drafting teams don't even have that great of a positive draft ratio. More picks you have the better statically chance to hit. Dorsey drafted Knile Davis with our 3rd rd comp pick in 2013. I expect more to come via this strategy. Probably get a 3rd for Tamba next season. |

He did? Last I checked Fisher's contract was fully guaranteed at like 22 million and Albert signed a deal with 20 million guaranteed. Only difference is that Albert has a higher salary and cap hit (by about 3 million per). The Chiefs could have stuck with Albert and let Bowe go and came out ahead.

We got Roaf for a conditional 3rd round pick. NO wanted to move him because of his $4.25MM that was due to him on a 6 year, 27MM contract. That's peanuts.

Don't forget that we got to play Albert all of last year, and still basically get a 3rd round pick for him. Miami was offering nothing. We had no clue who would have been available with that pick.

No shit we didn't have a clue. We also didn't have a 2nd round pick. That 3rd could have helped immensely. |
