Curtis Samuel - Ohio State

Let's talk about this kid, give me your thoughts.

Explosive runner, dynamic receiver. Can get to the edge, can bust open the seams. Could play RB in a Jamaal Charles style. Could play receiver with Percy Harvin-type ability. After watching what Reid did with Hill last night, this kid runs those plays at OSU. Probably a late 1st or early 2nd round guy with his skill set. Would you draft him? Where would you play him? Can he be just a "get him on the field" type of guy where you put him at both positions depending on the situation like Reid has started doing with Hill and Meyer has done with him at OSU?

I'm a bit of a biased guy as an OSU fan. Want to hear some outside opinions.

So I like this guy as a day two prospect, and I do think he's an excellent fit for what Reid does on offense here in KC. This is a good find, kccrow, inasmuch as someone from Ohio State is a "find."

He has RB/WR versatility, he boasts very good speed, he is a solid deep threat (assuming he can learn the Chiefs' route scheme) and, most importantly with Alex Smith under center, is very good at getting open very quickly for that short passing game. This Chiefs team needs one more playmaker either at RB (preferably) or WR, and he can fill both roles. The Buckeyes don't have a pro-style offense, but they do use him almost exactly how Andy Reid used Dexter McCluster, De'Anthony Thomas and Tyreek Hill.

His best future in the NFL is not as a RB. He can't run the ball reliably anywhere between the tackles, but he can run the edge well. He is outstanding at getting open very quickly (my favorite attribute of his), but he loses some of that shake&bake when he has the ball in his hands. You'd ideally like a 2nd day pick to be an every-down guy and there are questions as to whether he can be that; he's going to need a full offseason in 2018 to bulk the **** up if he wants 50+ snaps a game.

I like him. I think he makes a lot of sense in Kansas City.

Curtis Samuel is going to be a steal. He's a Tyreek Hill type although not quite as fast (but still very fast and shifty), in that he's an outstanding open field runner but also a polished receiver. A lot of your gadget guys can't play receiver. If Barrett had any clue how to throw the ball over 10 yards, Samuel would have had a monster year.

I would agree he'd be a great find. I don't know if the Chiefs need him as much now that they have Hill but he certainly couldn't hurt if to replace DAT and Wilson's role.

It's a copy-cat league, and I think there's going to be a handful of speedy gadget players taken much earlier than they should be, and get paid because of Hill's success this year.

Lucky for us, we know what it's like to swing and miss on guys who fit that role. It's hard to find those guys. DAT, Dex, Wilson to some degree, Devin Wylie, and I'm sure a few others.

We have been looking to fill that role for a while. Now that we have, everyone else gets to swing and miss on those guys while we take advantage of guys who slip because of it.

I honestly think the same thing will happen with TE's as well because of Gronk, Kelce, Eifert and the like. Henry has panned out nicely this year as a rookie... I think TE's will go earlier than they normally would.

Maybe it's a good year for us to be in the LB market...

How high is Dalvin Cook going? With as talented as our roster is, all I want is QB or playmaker in the 1st round. Might be time to snag a stud runningback if one is there.

Buddy, this running back class is so ridiculously deep that, unless you've got an All Pro option on the board, you can go RB later.

the chiefs dont have a pure rushing based o-line or one that pass protects. its a bloddy hybrid. schwartz earlier used to pull towards fisher and we ran well there. we are now using a a zone block scheme that makes us use 5 lineament block 7.

The guy had blazing speed at the combine. Played well as a RB/WR.
If we traded back, I could see this being one of the players we pick up in the 2nd round.
