Normal game has 12/13 possessions. Chiefs got 7 extra and offense only managed 10 points? That's awful
https://twitter.com/huthutdk/status/781058110542778368

This guy is a ****ing moron. The Chiefs had 9 offensive possessions.

Also, most of the turnovers came when the Chiefs already had a comfortable lead, and were running the clock out. Two of the turnovers were returned for TD's. Should've had 7 more on the board if it weren't for that fluky fumble out the endzone.

Was it a great, or even good offensive perfomance? No, but it wasn't nearly as bad as this biased pillowbitergot wants to pretend. I bet he didn't shit on any of the Broncos wins last year because of their inept offense, especially one they won by 20 ****ing points.

I understand/agree, but points are points, and you can't look at last years offense objectively without including them.

How is #1 a coaching issue?

#4 wasn't either.

We ran it up the gut with Ware. That's exactly what we should want Reid to do in those situations.

You're asking how Alex holding onto the ball too long is a coaching issue when he literally did it multiple times in Houston.

Really?

Alex is ****ing 32 years old. He's not some rookie. He knows better, and to pretend he doesn't/shouldn't is asinine.

If you're blaming Reid, you're making the assumption that he doesn't correct Alex on those mistakes. Do you honestly believe that?

He didn't hold it too long on thay play. He left a picket when he shouldn't have and missed a wide open angle route over the middle.

Sounds to me like it's an Alex Smith issue.

Is there a pattern in 15 years of play that would lead you to believe this?

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

True but they get the offense in the end zone and ours does not.

Yikes, so you had to expand your ranking all the way out to top 20 (which Smith falls into) to try and make this "Strong" correlation.

How about this correlation. Of the 12 teams in the 2015 playoffs, only 2 of them had an interception rate over 2%, Smith coming in with the 3rd best rate at 1.5%.

But turnover percentage is boring, so the stat is invalid.

Carry on.

It is a strong correlation.

The point of it is very clear: being 32nd in YPC is NOT acceptable and will NOT lead to playoff success.

It's a loser's statistic.

Quote:
Alex Smith's current 9.9 YPC is one of the lowest marks in the NFL over last 10 seasons. Only a few QBs have been worse:

Ryan Mallett (9.8), Derek Carr (9.4), Christian Ponder (9.8), Brady Quinn (9.8), Ryan Fitzpatrick (8.6), Brodie Croyle (9.7), Charlie Frye (9.7), Bruce Gradkowski (9.4), David Carr (9.2)

He was sacked in 3 seconds. It was 3rd and 9. You have to give your receivers time to get 9 yards down field. How is that holding onto the ball too long?

Ask any lineman - you are expected to hold your blocks for a minimum of 3 seconds. Film review after each game my coach literally had a stop watch and would clock each sack. If the sack happened before 4 seconds, we were responsible and paid for it in ladders. If it happened after 4, then he gave the sack to the QB (who by the way didn't receive any consequence for the sack - I guess they figured the hit from the sack was consequence enough). It was pretty cut and dry.

Who the **** wanted Alex? Andy runs everything on the offense man. Missing open players and taking sacks is embarrassing for a 32 year old starting QB.

It was understandable for Alex to struggle in 2014 when the OL was horrific and we didn't have receivers, but after Alex growing last year, he's stopped.

This offense has so much talent.

Maclin=top 100 player. Legit pro bowl talent.
Kelce=pro bowl talent
Ware-legit top 5 RB so far---most yards from scrimmage entering last weeks game.
OL=solid
Conley=solid number 2 WR so far. Very reliable.

Why are we still struggling to score points?

The offense is a shit show. You can try to paint it optimistically, and there are some signs of potential in there at times, but it's been a shit show so far this season.
