My point is that Sandy and pence were very good but even if you replaced them with the best at there position it would have made very little difference in the outcome.
position players do make an impact but the difference between a very good and elite third baseman is minor. If you have a shut down pitcher its truly the only player that makes a HUGE difference and BUM was legendary against us. Not good, or above average, or even excellent, he was legendary. Player for player beyond him we absolutely have the edge. Look in the end it docent matter, we lost they won, life goes on and we go into the off season with a lot more money to spend ( hopefully) We are used to being laughed at in K.C. with our teams, and it sucks, this was the first time where I have truly felt proud of a team in K.C. for a long long time. And it took someone like BUM to do what no one has ever done in the history of baseball for them to eak out the win by 1 run. I think the boys made K.C. proud and the Giants are thanking there stars they have him on there team ( at least for another year or two then the yankees/ dodgers or red socks with have him) |

I get what you're saying but just admit the Giants are the better team not the Royals. Come on and just admit it. Give credit where it is due. I'm not even a Giants fan and I can relate about cheering on a losing franchise. Been a STH for the Raiders 10 years now. I live in Giants territory and As an A's fan I can admit the Giants are a great team and organization. KC fans have a lot to be happy about and hopefully they can build off of this season. I was routing for the Royals. Baseball needs a cap$$ |

I absolutely don't think the giants are a better team than the royals, and I don't think its really even close. Of course this is with the emphasis on team. Do they have possibly the best player in baseball? They very well could but here is a different way to look at it. If they played each other head to head 8 times with 4 games in a row one day off and 4 more days in a row so you can go thru each pitcher one time 1-4. I would say the money would be on the Royals to win 5-6 of the 8 based on their other pitchers. Hudson, Vogelsong, Peavy would lose 8 out of 10 times to us. Plus we swept them during the regular season so we have actually beat them more this year than they have us. Bad logic because I know you can use the Tigers against us, I get it. Look I think the series is played 10 times we would win it 6 times but we didn't. I can tip my hat and tell them congratulations on being the MLB champs this year but to say they are better than your team because of one player is silly. It is possible for a team to not be the best and still win a championship. |

The Royals were 90ft away from a World Series title. It's kinda like the Titans coming up a yard short in the SB. Kinda. |

Look I'm not taking anything away from their title, they won it fair and square but in baseball there are a lot of players on the field. You could swap players with them at any position and we would have probably come very close to the same score. The only position that would have made a difference was #1 pitchers. swap our number #1's and we win in 5 at the worst and a clean sweep most likely. They did great they won, blah blah blah, the boy in blue made us proud, and represented K.C. the best they could. No one knew that they had a top 5 all time postseason talent on their team. And there wasn't much anyone could do about it. I still think if the series is played 10 times we win it 6 out of 10, but they don't so it doesn't matter. |

To make myself feel better I've come up with 10 variations on the 9th which would have been much worse (like Tyus Edney/unmentionable kicker painful):

Why are people saying we were 90ft away from a World Series title?
90ft would have only "tied" the ballgame. Now would our chances of winning increase had it gone into extra innings? Sure, as long as Baumgardner is yanked from the game. But there were 2 outs and a gimpy Salvador Perez would have been on base at 1st...the guy's not turning 1 into 2 or stealing any bases. Dude has a rubber arm and IMO he would have gone for a couple more innings...and they didn't even use their bullpen...which is also pretty good. We have better luck against anyone that's not named MB....but AG scoring in the 9th doesn't give us a win. It only ties the game. It sucks we lost. I had that horrible gut wrenching feeling as soon as they turned that double play earlier in the game. Once that happened I didn't think we'd win the game. IMO that saved them the game. Royals completely exceeded anyone's expectations....including their own and the FO. Sure the coaches and DM can sit in interviews and say they expected us to be good. But they sure as hell didn't expect the Royals to come back and win in that A's WC playoff game and then go on to sweep everyone in their way to the World Series. But they went all in for the James Shields/Wil Myers trade. And FOR ONCE a Royals trade actually works out for them. Shields and Davis did more for this team's playoff run than anything Wil Myers could have produced. We didn't expect Wade Davis to have the impact he ended up having...but the point is the trade worked out beautifully once Davis found his niche in the bullpen, and because of that someday he's going to get paid a lot of money to be a closer for a larger market team. Now the Royals have to get back to the WS. They've had a slice taste of success...now it's time to get the whole ****ing pie. Hopefully this gets them charged up and they come back next season hungrier. Moose, Gordon, Hosmer and maybe Butler (w/ a hometown discount) get their shit together and start putting the ball over the fence more. There's really no reason why the 4 of them can't knock 25 HR's/70 RBI's each in a course of a season. That's not a lot. Maybe this experience put hair on their chest and they've grown up a bit and now know what it takes to win at this level. But this run was magical. It was magical for the franchise, and for the city of Kansas City and it's fans. But this is still the city where as a fan, your championship hopes come to die. America got to see one of the most electric ballparks/fanbases in all of baseball. I personally want to thank the Royals because this is the first time I've been able to enjoy playoff baseball. I'm 31. I grew up idolizing Bo Jackson, but was also fortunate enough to watch Brett's last home game at Kauffman. I was 2 yrs old living in Peoria IL when they won it all in 1985....but at that time in Peoria IL there was another team (Bears) everyone was crazy about and the Royals/Cardinals and playoff baseball wasn't even a blip on the radar screen in my family then. I'm just glad I got to experience this. Because for a long time I (along w/ many others) I would think I'd never get to see the Royals in the playoffs...let alone even be competitive. Well they've been competitive the last couple seasons....Now they need to build on this season....charge into next season and take the division title from Detroit and make another playoff appearance and make another run at this thing. Go Royals!!!
