I don't know of any other team that would want to swallow that contract with Romo at his age and carrying the questions about his health that he does. He'll either have to retire or be cut, I see no other way around it. Dallas is going to get kicked in the nuts this season either way, but I imagine it wouldn't be as painful if he just retired.

So if Romo retires, is it a ploy to help the Cowboys, or is it a way to allow him to save the Cowboys money and make a path to play for a new team? In other words, if Romo retires, how soon can he play again? Marshawn Lynch retired last year but may play again for oakland, but he's been retired for a year and Seattle still holds his rights. Even if Romo retires, wouldn't Dallas still own his rights? And, if Romo retires, can he immediately un-retire and sign with another team?

Smart... fishing for trade interest. Good luck with all that, but as the draft gets closer, he has to either move him or hold out for an early camp injury to a team that has playoff hopes. Then, maybe he gets his trade partner. No risk to Jerry in waiting and is the smart thing since QBs get injured all the time.
