The biblical accounts point to the fall of the year as the most likely time of Jesus' birth, based on the conception and birth of John the Baptist.

Assuming John's conception took place near the end of June, adding nine months brings us to the end of March as the most likely time for John's birth. Adding another six months (the difference in ages between John and Jesus) brings us to the end of September as the likely time of Jesus' birth.
See, I had apparently confused by the fact I had come across the assumption Jesus was born in Spring, namely March, and this is the time he would have been conceived based on being born in December.

A cursory google search says Christmas was moved from Jan. 6 to Dec. 25 less than 500 years after his birth.

It really doesn't matter. I would prefer all holidays fall on a Friday or Monday. Nothing worse than a middle of the week holiday.

It's something I've noticed being born on the 4th.. It's an inconvenience if it falls between Monday and Friday.

Meh. Who knows. If all of those Basic Income prognosticators are correct, there might be a time when the USofA is forced to adopt a 32 hour work week... Gotta believe there'll be more holidays if we're essentially limited to a 4-day work week.

I end up working a lot of holidays, so it doesn't really matter much to me. However the next time Christmas rolls around to a Tuesday I will not work Christmas for about 4 years.

My house is celebrating Christmas tomorrow night. Going to smoke up a turkey and have the family come over for dinner and a small gift exchange.
