The worst you've gotten reamed by a coach.
I just had a really entertaining lunch with a couple dudes back from the high school days. We all played together on the same team, and had a pretty tough coach, but not a vicious one or anything.

Our conversation was inspired by that crazy video of that coach abusing the hell out of his players.

Parts of the video weren't that big of a deal to us, though. We'd often had our coach grab us by the jersey and jerk us into the right position on the field. We've also had him verbally castrate us, but not in the homophobic ways that nutty coach in the news was, more in the "I swear to god you are useless to this team if you cannot get your shit straight" and so on.

I know a ton of us on ChiefsPlanet used to play high school and college sports, and maybe some of us still do. So what's the worst a coach has ever melted down on you?

we were JUST talking about this. in high school I had a basketball coach / superintendent and he was your basic douche bag bully. name calling, a little hands on sometimes, but always with dudes smaller than him. I was a sophmore and although I was a bit afraid of him, I figured push comes to shove I could probably take him. he got all pissed at me for something or other in the middle of practice and beans me hard with a basketball. damn thing rolls to the other side of the court and he tells me to go get it. I did. it was humiliating, but I did it.

when I get back with it he yells "you either ship up or shape out". that was it. that was the straw. I beaned him with the ball, hard, and said, "I'll ship out. now YOU go get it". I wondered if he'd get physical. guess I wasn't small enough. I walked out of that gym as slowly as I could glaring at him all the way. bitch never spoke to me again that I remember. I figured I'd get expelled or something, but nothing ever came of it.

that Rutgers dude....man, those kids couldn't beat his ass with their scholarships on the line, but a dude acting like that as a high school coach is eventually gonna get stomped.

Mine were pretty mild actually. I had one do a lot of yelling but never anything bad.

The worst he ever said to me directly was (it still resonates in my head when I **** up) "JESUS CHRIST! Are you dead, dumb, or just plain stupid?" It made me feel like hell. And he apologized a few minutes later. But yeah, I had, and still do have a lot of respect for him and I think he respected me even though I was a junk player.

I had a real intense coach on time, who come to think of it didn't berate us much, just yelled because he was so intense. Anyway, we had some shit ass refs and they had given him a T so he had to calm it down on the sidelines. Anyway, at halftime, he kicks this 20 gallon jug full of Gatorade across the locker room and into this bathroom stall. Lid came off. Gatorade everywhere. Hilarious. I think we were freshman or something and we were obviously petrified. I mean the dude kicked a full Gatorade jug across the room. Then he looked around and says, "I'm not posse at you guys, you're doing a good job. It's those ****ing refs!"

of course, the coach was also my dad.

I learned a great deal from that. I learned coping skills & self discipline. I learned to run the right routes and to block my ass off. I learned to work harder. Harder than I ever thought I could work.

worst I ever witnessed was our football coach going off on a lineman. this guy was huge and really could have been awesome, but he was too nice. he was a helluva lineman even so, he just....he was too nice. coach had him get down in his stance several times in a row and he'd grab him by the belt and pull him onto his face yelling THIS is how you come off the line.
really pissed me off man. I was a back, and that dude could open up a hole. if he'd have had some meanness in him he'd have demolished that coach.
