Moral Judgement On Prostitutes
So last night/this morning I had some people over. A friend brought a friend who, it turns out, is a high end prostitute. I don't roll like that, I pay for pussy in the traditional drinks and entertainment sort of way. This lady is beautiful, intelligent, and worldly. Great conversation but all I can think is "yeah but you're still a whore". Sharing this because bye week...

If so, I'll note that my waitress pretends she likes me so she can get a bigger, and my vendors pretend to like me so I'll hire them again. When I go onto a car lot, I'm an A-list celebrity. It's not deceit, it's sales.

I think it's very paternalistic to control prostitution, and while I know this sounds counterintuitive, I think it's disrespectful to assume that women are unable to make this decision and we as society must protect and control them (and cut off some income from them).

I don't have enough time to craft a fully formed response, as I'm white-knuckling a Mizzou game. I'll say this:

Regarding #1: Soldiers are usually always victims of economic conscription in this environment, so I don't find that aspect valid. Also, it's not an argument about chastity whatsoever. In fact, I don't know how you could interpret it as such. It has to do with objectification of the body, not purity.


Regarding #2: Sales are deceit. I would much prefer if people could just be honest in their dealings than lying to one another for profit. I don't value cons.

Regarding your final point: I have no issues with the legalization of prostitution and have made no statements saying it should be regulated or outlawed. In fact, I don't think it should be illegal.

You've invented a series of strawmen.

I admit I have a double standard on this issue...I have no problem with prostitution ... Wouldn't care if it was legal everywhere....
Would pay if I needed to or got dry enough.....
But wouldn't date let alone marry one and wouldn't want my daughter or sister to be one.

So yah I guess I agree w the op...

Ideally we would live in a disease free society where we value the essence of the person so much more than the physical nature, that whether someone sleeps with people for joy, money, or boredom would be irrelevant.

We wouldn't even care.

But we don't. We objectify, abuse, degrade each other. We're equally excited when someone fails as we are when someone succeeds. We're not anywhere near mature enough to successfully introduce fully legalized prostitution.
