Where did all Puerto Rico's money go?

The bigger question that needs to be IMMEDIATELY answered and accounted for is why does an island of 3.4 million people have $70 billion in debt and a total of nearly $145 BILLION of unfunded liabilities?

This is bullshit and they don't deserve another DIME~!

They have debt equal to California with 8% of the population!!!

This island run by Democrats is another cesspool of corruption and crony capitalism. I don't give a shit about Puerto Rico and that scumbag mayor can go drown in the flooding for all I care.........

That is all!

Do you think boomers were behind the civil rights movement?

Because I don't think 20 years olds were running the country yet.

Joplin got thousands of volunteer aid from all over the country. I'm pretty certain there are thousands of native PR's doing what they can to help the cleanup.
Why are you changing the argument? Never brought up the topic of outside volunteers. As I said, Joplin folk were out cleaning up as soon as the storm passed. We didnít wait volunteers, although they turned out to be instrumental in the recovery. ( Which is ongoing. As you are aware, about half of the federal funds disappeared. Others funds were used to build a ridiculous library. Who needs a library? We carry a library in our pocket. ) If you want to start a thread about outside volunteers, do so. Tornado was an act of God. Evidently you are skeptical. You donít have to be a contrarian every time.

How do you know about the cleanup in PR? Are you there? News footage, reliable or not, on most networks, shows a lot of sitting around. PR has made the disaster worse with decades of self neglect and corruption. Iíll let you decide how that happened.

My first exposure to hearing about something being done about racism was from JFK. My Dad had us march in a parade (I was on the front page of the the newspaper, a close up of me in the march) for equal rights in 1963 and I had no ****ing clue what it was about, none.

That year I started attending a Jr. High that was where the majority of the black kids went and I got the start of an education. It was MUCH different back then, as the black population in my city was pretty much all located in the same area. I had never been around anyone other than white in my life.

I didn't mean to imply baby boomers started the movement, but I think our generation has made a huge step from "don't touch that, a negro may have touched it" kind of mentality that was normal in our youth.

For Oaklandhater to imply we, the baby boomers, have created racism was bombastic. Like on all other subjects, he is totally clueless.

Most of us raised our children differently and it has had an effect, that is what I am talking about. I raised my kids to respect other people, no matter their heritage, until they prove they don't deserve it.

Puerto Rico gives out Christmas bonuses after asking for $94 billion in hurricane relief
12/3/2017, 8:10:42 PM ∑ by jazusamo

The Washington Times ^ | December 3, 2017 | Stephen Dina

Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello last month asked federal taxpayers to shell out $94 billion to pay for the territoryís recovery from Hurricane Maria ó then turned around and paid out about $100 million in Christmas bonuses to government employees on the island. The governorís aides say the bonuses were part of a long-standing tradition and were included in the budget approved over the summer. But that budget came well before Hurricanes Irma and Maria slammed into Puerto Rico, leaving much of the territory in ruin and the government begging for federal assistance. The islandís financial oversight board, created by...

Here's why PR is broke.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money...ump/731091001/

As far as the bonuses.....I get it is bad optics, but the money is going to the people, which likely need the economic boost. Did Texas and Florida have to give up their bonuses too? New Orleans?
