Yeah I’m sure it was. But the OP said “hundreds of thousands killed” where the article he posted mentioned hundreds of thousands of casualties.

If you count all the people killed in sectarian violence it's that high.

Of course, the majority of them were not killed by US troops, but we can blame the US military for Sunnis and Shias killing each other if we want I guess.

I mean they've been doing it for over 1000 years, but whatever.

Yeah. Clearly Billay is taking liberties from the get go when he says McCain killed these people whoever they were. I'm sure he blames McCain for everything from Saddam's death at the end of a rope to US GIs being killed by Iranian IED/EFPs.

Regime change without a clue what will succeed the regime being ousted has a destabilizing effect. Destabilizing effects, when applied to the Middle East and North Africa, will naturally affect oil prices in a positive way for Riyad and the oil industry. In other words, John got paid and his family will enjoy those payments long after John is rotting in hell.

It did in Congress—not necessarily with the grassroots. That is after everyone recognized getting into it was based on lies. Once that was known, it became mostly partisan for certain folks on the right who can't own up to it being a mistake so they mentally justify it as a defense mechanism. I saw that here when I arrived in 2006. McCain is soon to meet his maker so he's coming clean. It's amazing what facing once death soon will do to a human.

I opposed from the start BEFORE going on, on gut instinct first. Made no logical sense since it was Saudis who pulled off 9/11. I wasn't on this board at the time but was on another and the RW NC attacks were just brutal. And I'm as right-wing as you can get.

John McCain's new slogan: "If you hated him before, you're really gonna hate him now"

The guy is really quite a POS in his moment of truth before he meets his maker. Next thing he'll say is that he really is gay and sorry he never came out.

It did have bipartisan support. But it was Cheney Rumsfeld that pressured the intelligence community into cooking the books, Bush that took every opportunity to use the phrase 911 and Iraq/Saddam Hussein in the same sentence even though Iraq/Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 911, and Colin Powell who prostituted his reputation before the United Nations to win a vote there.

Too lazy to look it up but I know some Dems did speak and vote against it. Obama was not yet a senator but he was on record as being opposed to it before the war vote. Were any R's on the record as being against it before the invasion started?

And the biggest mistake was that the Bush administration did zero planning for the post invasion. They thought they were going to parachute some Iraqi ex-pat into prime minister and be out of the country six weeks after the invasion. That is every bit as ludicrous as it sounds.

Well it may well have been cowardly to wait until he was on his death bed. But if that is what he believes, I'm still glad he has come clean on it.

Outside of Cheney/Rumsfeld, he beat the war drum louder than anyone else.

No one pressured the IC into cooking the books.

And you can blame Colin Powell for failing to adequately plan for the aftermath after standing in the way of using Iraqi exiles to establish a shadow interim government to use in transition. Of course, the buck stops with GWBush so he deserves criticism too.

I’d like to see what McCain actually says instead of what Iraq war critics say he says before jumping to the conclusion that this is a deathbed reversal.
