Called it a "whitelash". One reporter had visible tears. Instantly played the race card.

Ohh nevermind you just brought up identity politics too. No wonder you think cnn is a fair and balanced news source.

No, no agenda by the mainstream media to undercut Trump, none at all. Just keep drinking the Kool-Aid and move along.

I saw a friend of a friend on the Facebook post some bullshit about how the US needs to join every other reasonable nation in the world and ban guns. How is it reasonable to ban all guns for every citizen.ife and kids. What's he going to do if someone breaks into his house in the middle of the night?

Hope that they only want to take his belongings? Hope that they don't stop at that and end up hurting him, his wife, or his kids? Wait and hope that they can call the police and that the police make it there fast? I've changed my mind on this issue. There's no such thing as reasonable gun laws. I'm with the gun nuts on this one

Reasonable questions. I will not pretend to give you a history lesson, but I will try to answer your questions.

(1)When and why did freedom become a bad thing to want?

It began happening (in earnest) in the late 60s, early70s while the United States was in Viet Nam and shortly before the end of the "hippie" movement. That generation, who went on to become College Professors, Lawyers, Judges and Politicians held a deep belief that America is an inherently "evil" place and should be brought to it's knees. Barack Obama was one of those (although a tad younger).

In their warped minds - EVERYTHING America stands for, everything it touches is - bad, evil, terrible (you name it). So, by generational osmosis, schools began teaching this philosophy, Local and national politicians began preaching it and, eventually, their offspring began to parrot their parental figures.

Today? We are seeing the result as we "rid" ourselves of our "oppressive" history by acting like ISIS incarnate. We tear down statues that we don't like, tear apart history books that teach that the Civil War WASN'T all about slavery and we openly preach that we must be "governed" by a large "benevolent Central Government". The same philosophy that brought us the Soviet Union - and WILL (at some point) be adopted in this country; the will of the majority supersedes the "right" of the individual and that individual must bend to the "collective".

(2) What happened to the days when the American left knew to regulate and tax everything...

The American left STILL believes that taxes on the American people are justified because those taxes should be used, not to defend the country, but to "take care" of those who either won't make their own way, or choose not to. The higher the tax - the more the Left likes it.

(3)I saw a friend of a friend on the Facebook post some bullshit about how the US needs to join every other reasonable nation in the world and ban guns.

You would probably do well to distance yourself from this "friend". The current mantra of the left today is "reasonable gun control". That is code for confiscation. As soon as America acquiesces to that "demand" - we are finished. The Second Amendment was placed there for a reason. Our Founders brought to the colonies the idea of "freedom" - freedom form being held under thumb of ANY tyrant - whether they be from without - or within. Ownership of guns in this country insures that the left will NEVER get their way - at least for the foreseeable future. And it drives them crazy. But one thing America has learned about these assholes - give them an inch - and they'll screw you to death. The Second Amendment MUST be protected with all our might.

(4)I do understand that he and every other poster in that thread don't represent then entire democratic party, but it's sad to see so many people who want to rely on the government for everything.

I worked in the Intelligence field for nearly 23 years. I served in Russia, and the whole of Eastern Europe during the Cold War. I have seen the "Wonders" of the Soviet Union first hand. It was bogus then, and it is bogus now - by those who believe that it was somehow "important". It was not. The left in the United States firmly and fervently believes that POWER is not derived form our RIGHTS as a nation of free people. They believe that RIGHTS come from, and can only be given by a CENTRAL GOVERNMENT, In other words, communism. There ridiculous belief comes (primarily) from years of languishing in schools, being taught by people that despise this country and, again, hope for it's destruction.

Hope this helps a little.... Have a nice day!

I honestly think that having a viable third party would help a lot. The dems need to kick out all of the greens. The left can have it's own party making the dems more reasonable again with a place for any centrists and moderates. The republican party can be the conservative party. Or the libertarians take all of the conservatives, and the left can have the democratic party, and the republicans can be for any centrists or moderates. The battles between liberal and conservative republicans, and the same issue with the left and the conservative democrats can't go on forever
