Colin Kaepernick Is GQ's 2017 Citizen of the Year

What kind of Moron thought that was befitting? Let's pick a troublemaking protestor over someone who raised 37 million for hurricane relief

I don't think I would have picked Kaepernick myself, but I think he's a defensible selection for those reasons.
So Kaepernick, a QB in the SB who played in the heart of the most liberal state in the country, with a huge platform to spread his message, can't do the basic things necessary to try to create change?

Sorry but this guy can **** off. It's perfectly fine to think what he does about justice, but he was extremely childish about the way he did this. You don't make fun of the police by wearing socks making fun of them. You get your ass to work with them and formulate ideas to create change, but he can't even do that.

He's too busy hanging out with Shaun King and hating white people/the flag/police to try to be a professional or decent role model and create real change the way it should be done.

Kaepernick is not an "oppressed" person.

He is a hugely overpaid athlete and beneficiary of AFFIRMATIVE ACTION.

This guy has been treated better during his life than 99.999% of humans.

And when he WHINES and RACE BAITS, the LEFT cheers.

The LEFT hates TRUTH.

Colin Kaepernick is a terrible teammate, a self serving non-victim who gets media attention to push a political cause of extremely dubious credibility.

I mainly spend time talking about him being an overrated quarterback who was so bad that he lost his job to Blaine ****ing Gabbert and a pampered hypocrite douche who was raised by wealthy white people and had every advantage, his bushy 'fro and tats notwithstanding. He's a ****ing joke propped up by the liberal media and celebrated by idiots like you, and the damage he's doing to the NFL is exactly what they want.

And this post right here is why GQ made the decision it did. Because I guarantee you weren't spilling out three paragraph rants over the wonderful shit JJ Watt did for Houston.

And I'm not attacking you when I say that -- I'm just saying that the cultural impact of Kaepernick's actions clearly have left a bigger footprint in our collective psyches.

It was Kaepernick's right to engage in a protest. His constitutional right, and he was pretty much universally successful in getting his message across. Whether you agree with it or not, it got the message discussed and even now people have hardcore reactions to it -- I know I do. (I'm supportive of his message.)

You can criticize how he handled it, but he did the exact thing the Constitution allows him to do. He spoke his mind. That he didn't join the NAACP and organize pow wows with Chuck Schumer is a fairly silly thing to criticize him for. He's a football player.

So, he had every incentive to not say a word, to look the other way, and ignore the perceived plight of his brothers and sisters of color.

Instead, he risked (and sacrificed) an insanely lucrative career to make a stand for his beliefs.

I think GQ has a real point, here.

"he risked (and sacrificed) an insanely lucrative career"

He was Vince Young 1.1

Once his legs went, he proved he sucked as a pocket passer and was done.

He wasn't going to get another contract like it, and he knew it.

That is why he did it late in his career.

He should go to Canada like VY and get cut there too...

Pop quiz: how much money has Matt Flynn made in the NFL.

So you are saying Kaepernick received a full scholarship to Nevada because of Affirmative Action? He was picked in the NFL draft because of Affirmative Action?

That is, like, the very minimum of what he's saying.

He's saying he is a puppet of the left, a Manchurian candidate that the Democratic Party has constructed to hijack American society.

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
