No. He's just responsible for coordinating the staff. Hence; defensive coordinator. If he would just quit calling those awful 3 man rushes where the OLBs end up standing in the flats and watching the QB like buffoons while leaving the QB with 7+ second to throw I wouldn't be so down on him. He actually called a pretty damm good game on Sunday but his own miscues made the score much closer than it had business being.

Sutton has a major voice during cut-downs.

Of course, that's been a lot like picking the best turd.

Seems like if we just paid the refs more than what other teams are paying our defense would be middle of the pack overnight.

The 2 biggest defensive plays from the Chargers game were the Parker INT and Ford sack. Houston dropped in coverage on the Ford sack and Ford dropped in coverage, took away the crossing route, and forced the INT to Ron Parker.

And Bob Sutton’s miscues?! How about Reggie Ragland making a form tackle when BOTH HANDS are on the runner? And I would bet money that Bob Sutton and his old wrinkly ass could have made that tackle on Big Ben on that open blitz that Eric Murray monumentally ****ed up leading to a TD instead of 3rd and 10+ yards.

The personnel isn’t doing even basic shit. ****ing make that goddamn tackle and that’s likely 7 off the board. ****ing hold onto the ball at the end of the game and it’s another 7 off the goddamn board too.

21 points in the 2nd quarter. Inexcusable. It's out of Andy Reids own mouth that the defense adjusted what they were doing and hey, it worked. That's all any of us can really ask for. Unfortunately, he never did learn his lesson to stop coasting when his offense gives him a big lead.

He coordinates the staff. You gotta stop moving the goalposts man. First it was his fault the players can't tackle, and then it's his fault that they haven't developed any talent. But I digress...

Pretty much every 3-4 or 4-3 under team in the league uses OLB's to cover backs in the flats. The difference is that other team's backers don't just stand there and let guys run by them like Dee Ford did. Bob Sutton's scheme actually put Dee Ford in EXACLTY the right place to stop that play for no gain, because he was in the right flat and Ben was scrambling to his side. All he had to do was not let the RB get a free release down the sideline. That's NOT Bob Sutton's fault and it never will be.

There actually is something you can do in that situation: don't put the player in a position where you know he's more likely than not going to fail. Is it a secret to ANYONE that Ford sucks in coverage? Have him rush the passer so he's at least doing something somewhat useful.

Bad drafting/shit for roster depth

Trading All-pro players for peanuts

Shitty DC

Chiefs being tied down by expensive contracts (Houston, Berry) and getting nothing in return. At least Houston is playing, but he needs to get to the QB more. BTW Houston looks slow off the snap, doesn't get around the edge like he used to be able to.

I won't go through all of Dorsey's hits on offense but he is the one who drafted the Mahomes, Hunt, Hill in the 5th round, LDT in the 6th round, etc. That's out of the ballpark. He is a HUGE reason why this offense is lights out but I guess you guys don't care.

Defensively? You mention Peters and Jones but what about Ford? Sure he has been injured but guy gave us a 10-sack season and he is after two games this season the 6th rated edge rusher with a 83.8 rating as per PFF. Maybe see how this season unfolds for him?

What about Nelson as a borderline 4th round pick? I guess people will complain because he is not a star but he's far from a bad pick for a low 3rd round pick.

Ramik Wilson, drafted in the 4th round, was shown the door by this team but he is now playing snaps for an elite defense, the LA Rams.

And then Kpassagnon wilil be a good one too.

Dorsey was outstanding at drafting really. I am a big fan of his. But I guess if you are one of those who expect every 1st and 2nd round pick to be a hit, you will always be disappointed and complaining.
Ford was an awful pick, dude. A first rounder. Also, because he was so terrible his rookie year, Dorsey felt compelled to hand out that cap-crippling Hali contract. Sure, NOW he's a nice player. What has he been before that point? A nice 6-game stretch in one season and a bunch unfulfilled wishes and injuries in the other.

There were PLENTY of quality defensive players to be had in that 2014 1st round. There were plenty of quality players PERIOD to be had in that 1st round.

Dorsey gets credit for making the Ford draft pick in the same way Hitler gets credit for the Holocaust.

I’m holding out hope that Berry makes this defense at least respectable.
If Mahomes and the offense keeps rolling, that’s all we need.

....unfortunately, I know in the back of my mind that Berry is not a fix-all. Especially an Eric Berry who is just coming back off an injury.

Drafting well and hitting some deep round picks are just critical habits for successful teams.

We're going to have some big paydays coming up on offense in the next couple years.

Can you point to his direct shortcomings as a coach? If not, then is it just you're upset with the production we've had from the DL? Because if that's the case, blame Dorsey and Veach, not the coach.

Were you all really expecting so much more out of waiver wire pickup Jaye Howard? Is it a shame that we only got the production we did out of 6th rounder Rakeem Nunez-Roches? Poe with a bad back was wasted with Britt Reid as his defensive line coach? Random asshole off the street Jarvis Jenkins doesn't have 10 sacks yet this season?

You have to go with what the guy has been given. Since he took over as the DL coach, we've basically drafted Chris Jones and that's it. Derrick Nnadi is the next one to keep our eyes on, but it's been two freakin games for a 3rd round rookie.

Who on the defensive line have we acquired who has not matched the expectations we set for them? I can only think of Bennie Logan. Everybody else was either JAG and to JAG they shall return, or they've done a reasonable job given where they came from and what they are.

You can start judging Britt Reid when we give him more than a freakin 2nd and 3rd round player across the entire defensive line in the past three drafts. That's right. 2016-2018. Two draft picks spent on DL. Biggest free agent acquisition was 1-year shitty Bennie Logan. After that, we've been making do with assholes off the street (Jarvis Jenkins, Kendall Reyes) random undrafted JAGs, a 6th rounder from 2015 (RNR), and old fart Allen Bailey. Xavier Williams is the closest thing we've seen outside of Jones and Nnadi that comes close to a longterm investment in the DL, and in his case, that's not saying much even if he is a solid player.
Britt Reid is the least deserving of criticism on the list I provided. If I had to pick the ones that deserve the most, it's Harris and Thomas. They haven't really developed a single player at DB. Phillip Gaines was a 3rd round pick and he flat out sucked. Steven Nelson was a 3rd round pick and he's just barely serviceable as a nickel. Eric Murray was a 4th round pick and he flat-out sucks. Russell was a 3rd round pick and they didn't do shit with him and then he was cut. Now we have Watts as a 4th round pick and you wonder if he can develop enough to supplant Eric ****ing Murray... Nevermind the lower round guys. You simply have to develop 3rd and 4th round picks in this league and the Chiefs really have not defensively.
