****2018-2019 Official NBA Regular season thread****

Didn't see anybody starting this thread so I guess I will.

Anti climatic season starts tonight and my prediction is GS vs Boston in the NBA Finals.

First 2 Games tonight on TNT with Philly vs Boston and OKC vs GS. Westbrook is out tonight so that game will be a blowout most likely.

The Pelicans would be lucky to get 5+ years of a future all-star in Siakam for one year of Anthony Davis, yes. They didn't get that in this trade. They got scrubs and the hope that a #4 pick pans out to be a player as good as Siakam.

Lakers better hope AD doesn’t fold under the Lakers spotlight and playing with LeBron like Dwight Howard did in LA with a similar alpha player in Kobe.

I would chuckle if Lonzo or Ingram failed their physical. And daddy as usual is an idiot

Fold? It’s Anthony Davis. I hate the Lakers, but even I know Davis will shine in LA.

Wouldn't surprise me if players start signing long-term deals with opt-outs after almost every season. If I was Kawhi, that's what I would do. Insures you against injury, gives you the freedom to leave if you'd like.

A guy like Butler makes sense for the Lakers as a third option, especially given his perimeter defense, which they'll need. Teams shouldn't give him a max deal, but he may get it.

I think they should also look for shooters, ball-handlers, and upside guys like Redick and Elfrid Payton, and pests like Patrick Beverly. Boogie might also be willing to go there on a one-year "make good" deal, especially since he dropped his value so much after that Achilles.

You need seven guys who can contribute in a playoff series. Right now they have LeBron, Davis, and Kuzma. If they wait on that trade, they can probably afford Butler and Redick, but that still leaves them two short.

The Lakers now have an aging superstar, an injury prone superstar with very little success carrying a team, and not much else. I think in the long run this works out great for the Pelicans.

Griff actually owned the Lakers. This is Brooklyn Nets Billy King levels of bad. I didn't think we would ever see something like this again:

2019 pick (#4)
2021 pick - top 8 protected in 2021, defers to 2022 where it is unprotected
2023 pick swap
2024 pick unprotected
2025 pick swap

The red Sox and dodgers are also popular. Seeing that 5 out of the last 8 finals teams from the 4 major sports came from California or Massachusetts, pro sports has a huge superteam vacuum. It'll be fine for ratings. Call me old school, but watching a fan base like the blues and raptors are a hell of a lot more what sports needs more of.

The only way you can say that is if every year the Lakers suck, which they won't, and they're lottery picks. If not, then who cares...they're mid to late first rounders.

I'll take the top 5 NBA star entering his prime over draft picks any day of the week.

Draft picks are just that....picks.

NBA fans starting to sound more and more like NFL fans in overrating picks.

Lebron will be 39 by the time two of those picks will convey. Lakers could be terrible by then.

And yes that's how a small market in the NBA can get stars under some years of control. NO top 5 player is going to the Pelicans willingly. The only way they get one is via the draft. So picks for a small market team are worth a lot.
