'De-throne' wouldn't be a fair description.

I'd say JJ Watt abdicated and it's possible that Peters could finish strong and take his seat...

You dont think he's among the elite? Are there 5 other CBs you'd take over him in his spot?

I wasn't of the mind that he meant 'elite corners'.

It's harder for a corner to impose his will on a game. The best corner in the world can lock down half the field, sure, but he's not able to really dictate the flow of an offense.

An elite LB or DL can be a force against the run and eliminate all types of downfield passing. Who would you rather have had last year, Josh Norman or Von Miller? Prior to that, JJ Watt or Richard Sherman?

It seemed to me that he meant all around elite player. When Peters isn't much of a force in the run game, about half the time he makes no difference at all and in the other half he's more of an annoyance than anything in that you should probably just not throw at him (though sometimes it's not that hard to throw over him).

To be an overall elite player, he needs to have a greater impact in all facets of the game.

This. Champ Bailey had a truly ridiculous year in 2006 (I think he caught more passes headed his way than the receivers he was covering did), but Jason Taylor won DPOTY with 13.5 sacks. It's really difficult for a CB to win.

Also Revis in 2009 and Sherman in 2012 (or was it 2013?).
