Being totally serious, these are the guys I'd consider with our first rounder:

Sammie Coates, WR; Auburn: 6'2", 205 lb.
- Ridiculous fast with great size/muscle definition. Is raw like sushi, but the tools are there. Reminds me a lot of Demaryius Thomas at the same stage.

Nate Orchard, OLB; Utah: 6'4", 255 lb.
- Leads the NCAA's in sacks in the 2014 season with 17 to date. Exceptional athlete who is also very good in coverage. I don't care if they took Dee Ford last year. Orchard is the real deal and has been absolutely destroying offenses this season. Unblockable right now and he'd have nearly twice as many sacks if Utah didn't drop him back as much as they do. A very long and lean 6'4", 255 lb. Very smart, vocal team leader.

PJ Williams, CB; Florida State: 6'1", 195 lb.
- Dude looks absolutely pro right now. As smooth and fluid as you will ever see at the college level at defensive back. Because of his fluidity, he doesn't look fast, but then you watch the games and he's stride for stride with every guy, every play.

Benardrick McKinney, LB; Mississippi State: 6'5", 255 lb.
- Ben is getting the "thumper" MLB tag a lot right now, but that's an inaccurate description. He is used all over the field at all LB positions (even DE), and is exceptional at rushing the passer. Fills lanes in a hurry and is nasty when he gets to the ball. Very athletic for a guy his size. Offers a lot of versatility in the defenses Sutton has been putting on the field this season.

Danny Shelton, DT; Washington: 6'2", 340 lb.
- Okay, here's the deal - Dontari Poe is going to be a very, very expensive free agent come 2016. Dorsey covers his ass in such situations (e.g., Ford). I also feel that, while Poe is having his unit continually slurped upon by the Chiefs Planet masses, is not ultimately effective as a two-gapping NT. He gets stood up and re-routed by a single OL. A lot. Danny Shelton is basically the same guy, but better than Poe at the same stage. He is absolutely obliterating offensive lines in 2014. Leads college football in forced fumbles, has 16 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks so far. While being double teamed every single play. Against PAC-12 teams. Maybe you work out a deal with Dontari. Maybe Dorsey decides to upgrade the position and draft Shelton.

Eddie Goldman, DT; Florida State: 6'4", 320 lb.
- Goldman is a beast. Played DE for the national champions last season, but moved inside for the 2014 season. Go ask Auburn what they think of Goldman. Or Clemson. If the Chiefs can work out a deal with Poe, a guy like Goldman filling DeVito's slot (if he can't come back from the achilles) would be ideal. Sure, you'll hear people say that the Chiefs run a lot of two down defensive linemen sets, and they do. But if DeVito can't come back, there are just a bunch of guys at that position. Goldman isn't "just a guy." Strong, mean and quick. Kind of a combination of DeVito and Bailey.

He's a bad mixture of not quite being crafty enough or fast enough for those things. And his coverage skills suck dick, too.

I think he'll be more than a thumper in the pros, but to expect him to be the next great 3-4 ILB is really quite a stretch.

I don't think he's the next great, but he does offer some versatility and he's a pretty good player. I think he offers more than what we currently have on roster.

He's not going to replace DJ. He's filling in that other LB spot where the Chiefs have had a pretty big hole for a long time now and I think he'd do it quite well.

And he's an insurance policy in case an OLB goes down. He's pretty solid in getting to the QB from the edge.

No, I'm not. Are you?

He's currently playing that role for the Bulldogs. Because he's getting a lot of press right now, and deservedly so, people who haven't seen games but are just formulating opinion based on his size or what they see in highlights are thinking that's all he is - a thumper. But he's a very good athlete than can effectively drop into coverage and rush the passer. I don't know if you've watched any MSU games or not, but he does drop and rush quite a bit during every game.

You're busting on a guy who's going to end up first team All-American on every single list there is. Most likely, defensive player of the year in the SEC as well. A guy who has already been named first team Freshman All-American by everyone. All-Conference in the SEC twice. Best player on the best defense in college football. But you think he sucks. Okay.

My girl is a Miss State grad, and I have not missed a game of theirs in recent years. I don't claim to be a draft guru, but I do pay close attention to college ball, and most that know me know this.

All of that said, I do not think McKinney sucks.. but I can also be honest in saying that I don't get the hype that surrounds him. He has not often been a player that has stood out. If anything, their sophomore LB Beniquez Brown has stood out more to me this year.

All of this is not to suggest that McKinney sucks or isn't good. He is a solid player.. but unless he tears it up at the Combine, and gets hyped throughout that process.. I just can't understand taking him in the first 50 picks.

edit: I should add that while he can play in a zone just fine, he isn't a LB that you want covering one on one in space.
