You bumped a thread from 3 years ago that is essentially a duplicate of this thread for the sole purpose of patting yourself on the back. I'm not surprised they dumped you for it.

Why do people get so pissed about bumping threads? Does it cause your property tax to increase by percentage points for the year each time it occurs?

Part of the culture of the board has been that if people are interested in a thread they will respond and keep it on the front page, if people aren't interested in a thread they will stop responding and it falls away. In this way the community performs a sort of self moderation regarding what topics get discussed. This also allows the mods to take more of a hands off approach. There are notable exceptions and the sub forums were added to address that. When a poster bumps an old thread unnecessarily they are going against that culture and, typically, cause moderation problems-because no one was interested enough in the first place to keep the thread going and no one wants to see it again. I would certainly endorse bumping a relevant thread when some new development pops up regarding an old issue. I've done that myself. But people bitch about random bumping because it feels like a breach of the unwritten rules of board etiquette, which can be annoying.

See, I guess that's how some look at it. Can't say I understand it.

When posting new information, my impulse is that starting a new thread for every subject under the sun is more obnoxious. So I try to find an existing relevant thread and treat the new info as a continuation of an existing conversation, even one that's gone stale.

If that was true there would be a lot more discussion around here because Raiders fans would actually be flooding this place talking about how great they were going to be this year.

Instead all of you are mostly hiding and praying you have a winning season for the first time since 2002.

Hahaha I forgot all about him. Didn't his brother post here under another name and they thought blueballs was a dup? I made the blueballs jr account. Spawned by anal sex used to be under its member name.

Also way back when the server would blow up from bumping old threads. htismaqe used to yell at gochiefs for slowing down the board by bumping old threads
