Quick analysis:
-3 of those teams have a winning record.
-Chargers come to Arrowhead on a short week (big disadvantage for them).
-Raiders will probably give up by week 17.

Hard to see us go any worse than 13-3 with this schedule.

I don't think people understand the 13-3 thing. It isn't about the Chiefs and it's not just a couple of games.

Since 1993, no AFC team finishing 13-3 has ever won a Super Bowl. Furthermore, a startling TWELVE of 17 teams have lost at home after a bye week.

As an AFC team, the Chiefs DO NOT want to finish 13-3. Here is a list of the 13-3 teams over the last 25 years, which encompasses the era of modern free agency.

2017 - Steelers lost first game at home after bye. Patriots lost Super Bowl.
2013 - Broncos lost in the Super Bowl.
2012 - Broncos lost first game at home after bye.
2011 - Patriots lost Super Bowl.
2009 - Chargers lost first game at home after bye.
2008 - Titans lost first game at home after bye.
2007 - Colts lost first game at home after bye.
2006 - Ravens lost first game at home after bye.
2005 - Broncos lost AFC Championship.
2003 - Chiefs lost first game at home after bye.
2005 - Steelers lost AFC Championship.
2000 - Titans lost first game at home after bye.
1999 - Colts lost first game at home after bye (to the 13-3 Titans). Titans lost Super Bowl.
1997 - Chiefs lost first game at home after bye.

For the NFC, 13-3 is almost the exact opposite. I haven't looked up the NFC lately but the last time I looked, about 75% of the NFC teams that finished 13-3 won the Super Bowl.

Mahomes just did something no one else has ever done - throw 22 TDs in his first 8 games (and that's including the start in Denver last season). That's a real thing he did that has never been done before. And you're worried about some end of season record putting a hex on him?

Have you finished writing your letter to EA begging them to put anyone else on the cover next year because of your fear of the Madden curse?
