Disastrous list. Glennon looks to the be only one who can maybe be a productive QB in this league. Unfortunately, Lovie Smith's head is so far up his rear that it may never come to fruition. Today he refused to commit to Glennon for next week if McCown is healthy.

It may well have been true that no amount of grooming could have ever made Geno Smith or EJ Manuel good QBs, but the dumb ****s in these organizations seem hell-bent to do everything imaginable to ensure that they fail.

Every football team needs a VP of Common Sense.

"We have a young QB who needs to develop. What should we do?"

Option A) Put him with a defensive-minded head coach who runs an ultra-conservative philosophy. That way, he will only pass in known passing downs, removing any element of surprise from the gameplan, while also fearing mistakes so much that he turns into a checkdown machine.

Option B) Have him play for a coach who is more worried about keeping his own job than developing his players, so that he'll toss him out there as soon as possible despite the player's need to learn the playbook, master the fundamentals of the position, and adjust to the speed of the game.

Option C) Insert him into a talent-less lineup immediately because you need a spark, then act befuddled when his production suffers and his play regresses

Option D) Any combination of the above, including all at once.

And you wonder why these guys flounder.
