I usually tip in the 20% range unless the service is awful. I give my garbage guy a tip every year. It pays off in the long run.

many moons ago when I delivered pizzas, there was a $.50 charge on the bill, but didn't go to the driver.

Okay. With the talk about pizza drivers, I thought maybe it meant tipping in general. I was going to say that I do not tip my letter carrier throughout the year. I know they make a good wage and have good benefits. An end of year gift is my way of saying thank you personally. If someone hasn't been good to you, then don't give a gift. If someone has been good to you, then it's really up to you what you want to give them in order to say thank you.

This is why I won't tip. Our route seems to get a new delivery person quite often. And I have no idea if we have the same trash and recycle guys. As mentioned before it's now a one-man show with a hydraulic arm that picks up and dumps the trash.

I had a buddy that worked for Godfather's and on a delivery one night some ass told him,"here's a tip, never tip waiters and/or pizza delivery guys and maybe someday you'll have a house as nice as mine."
Steve said he had gotten a glimpse of the guy's wife and replied,"yeah but thank God I'll never a wife as homely as yours."

I wouldn't even know how to tip the trash guys because they're never there at the same time. It's either 6 in the morning or they don't show up until 3 in the afternoon. |

I religiously tip the gal that does my hair around 5-7 dollars. She does a great job and always fits me into a time slot I need based on my schedule (she's also ridiculously attractive, so there's that too ).
If someone doing a service goes above and beyond to do good work for me, I feel compelled to reward them. That's just me, though. I have no qualms with others who feel the opposite.

I tip at restaurants where someone comes to my table to take an order and brings me my food. If I have to order it at a counter and then pick it up, I ignore the tip jar.
I also tip my barber and will throw a couple of bucks on the pillow in the morning when I have been at a hotel/motel. No way am I tipping my lazy ass mail carrier who folds and creases my mail. If you have one, you should always tip your paper carrier unless they are a total screw up. |

If you appreciate their service and they go above and beyond the call to make you happy, then by all means tip. If they do the bare minimum, then **** em.
One guy who should always be tipped is the plumber. |
