Computers Windows Backup

I have always used Windows backup to backup my files and never had any issues. I had a C and D drive that both existed on one drive and the entire drive backed up to another drive the same size.

I just recently installed a SSD and now have the SSD drive as my C drive and the D drive is still the drive from the other disk. I want to make an image of just my C drive but now when you go to backup setting you have the option to back up files and/or do an image of C and D together but there doesn't seem to be an option to separate the two. There is just one check box for creating an image and it has C and D listed together without an option of unselecting one. Anyone have a guess as to why this is?

Don't know the issue you are talking about but there are several free 3rd party apps that can image/ghost a partition for backing up.

dd if=/dev/sda for=/dev/sdb

I would backup your old D drive to an external USB and once that's verified, blowout the old C/D drive in Disc Management, then copy over the USB drive to your newly created D Drive.

Make a disc image and save it to both drives.

You can use a tool like FTK Imager to create backup images of those logical partitions.

Or...

Spend $5 a month and use Backblaze to back up all your stuff offsite. It's an excellent service.
