Yeah, those penalties hurt. 10 for 100 yards, and we had them on 7 of the 9 drives in the first half both offensively and defensively. Here's how my first half went. I'm surprised we weren't blown out earlier.

(Defense - 1st drive) Defensive holding on an incomplete third down pass to keep a Denver drive alive.

(Offense - 2nd drive) A personal foul that took out a 27 yard gain and eventually stopped the drive.

(Defense - 3rd drive) A personal foul on a no-gain run on third down that kept a Denver drive alive.

(Offense - 4th drive) Holding on a 17-yard third down pass that would have kept the drive alive (plus a false start earlier in the drive).

(Defense - 5th drive) No penalties!

(Offense - 6th drive) Holding that negated a first down run, though we made it up.

(Defense - 7th drive) Roughing the passer that turned a 2nd and 17 into a first down.

(Offense - 8th drive) No penalties!

(Defense - 9th drive) Personal foul that negated a sack and produced a 23-yard swing.

In fairness to the amazing job Clay has done with his squad this year, he did a top notch job gaming a season where he already had all the statistics available especially utilizing PFF which I believe are heavily used by CD. He sold out for this year in the offseason and its paying dividends. In future years, he will still have talent, but won't have the advantage of hind sight. Kudos to him, but he hasn't gamed the game yet I don't think.

I don't think I've "figured" anything out. I just did a lot of research on available talent and went after what I felt were good players.

The trade for CJ Spiller has been the biggest boon to my team.

Now I just have to figure out how to avoid killing him because right now he's carrying the ball too much.

I'm pretty confident my set of 4 WRs + Spiller is going to be impossible to beat this year. And next year I get Jason Peters back at LT healthy, with any luck, and I can dump Donald Penn for a high pick.

I feel like my team is really strong, and this off season I have two first round picks and two second round picks to hopefully make it stronger.

That felt like that Chiefs/Saints game for the whole 2nd half. As soon as Rodgers threw the pick-6, I got a bad feeling about it.

This offense just isn't as potent as I expected it to be. Every time I think these guys are going to pull away a bit, they just start to shit down their legs. I think the problem is that Chris Johnson just isn't an explosive RB in sandbox. His numbers are okay, but it's by volume more than explosion.

I was just looking at some rosters.

It's going to be interesting to see what Fort Worth does with their Colin Kaepernick/Eli Manning situation this coming offseason.

You have to trade Eli if Colin tears it up in real life this year, don't you?

I think the RGIII saga has to have taught us something.

A running QB is not likely to be a championship winner in Sandbox. RGIII is ass in this league because we can't exactly install a read-option just yet.

I'm not sure I'd be too eager to unload Eli if I had championship aspirations. You'll need to see if Kaep can actually put up some passing stats as well.

I've got Brees and can only manage 3 3rd down conversions per game.

It still factors in rushing yards, though. Ryan Tannehill has a crap ton of rushing yards.

Making a trade play for Eli or Kaepernick this offseason or next is probably going to be something I look into.

I have Tom ****ing Brady and elite pieces everywhere on offense and it's the same way.

There's something FUBAR with my playcalling.

I have, at worst, the 2nd best collection of skill-position players in the league and I just now crawled out of the basement on 3rd down conversions.

I think my problem has been two-fold: 1) No short yardage RB worth a shit (MJD was just hopelessly awful for me in this regard) and 2) Too many penalties that ended up putting me in 3rd and long situations.

So has anyone had to face a worse schedule based on WL records so far - through 5 games (Im not sure if home game advantage plays into Sandbox, but whoever did my scheduling needs to be shot, lol):

week 1 Las Vegas Lonely Strippers (4-1) - Loss 6-13

week 2 at Kansas City Ball Busters (4-1) - Loss 14-33

week 3 at Fort Worth Drifters (2-3) Won 20-11

week 4 at Springfield Attack (1-4) Loss 24-31

week 5 at Fort Wayne Dukes (4-1) Won 20-6

week 6 at ClearWater Donkeys (4-1) TBD
