It's a terrible shame, because I know he had a great career and was a great actor, but whenever I think of him I think of that terrible Japanese character he played in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I'm a big Audrey Hepburn fan, but that role kinda wrecks the movie. It was a different era and just meant for harmless comic relief, but it's just SO freaking bad it's embarrassing as hell now.

Again, I don't hold it against him or anyone else involved with the movie -- just a different era and they've all apologized profusely, but when I think Mickey Rooney, that's the first thing that leaps into my head.






EDIT: All that said, RIP. He was as big a star as anybody for a very, very long time.
