Truffles anyone?
I'll brag a bit. This kid is one of my former students and used to check his FedEx shipments on my computer at school when he was 16 years old. Hysterically, he and his buddies were huge fans of ViceTV when they were in my class. Now he's featured on vice.

So from what I can google this is a nearly impossible fungi to grow yet it grows in almost every continent?

Tell your friend to partner up with a uni and get a grant to study this. Hell, if you could create a nutrient framework you could 3D print the spores and make a ****ing mint...

He actually has a plot of land here in Arkansas that is an experimental truffiere. Planted hazelnut trees and sowed with lime. Takes over 7 years to see if anything comes of it.

The guy who started farming them in Tennessee is a PhD Mycologist. It takes nearly a decade of planning to get a first harvest and it sometimes doesn't work out so well. The soil, temperatures, and tree species required for it to grow on are pretty specific. Truffles are extremely hard to cultivate. Not only that but you also have to worry about foragers, diseases, and idiots sneaking onto your land to dig them up before before they have even matured.

I dont know about these truffles, but magic truffles are easy to grow. You can grow them in mason jars.
