Shooting at Arrowhead- Chiefs player commits suicide

No details yet. Just came across on the news.

edit: Sources say the player is Jovan Belcher. Police have yet to confirm.

An unnamed Kansas City Chiefs player has committed suicide at the team facility and authorities are on the scene, the police confirmed to ESPN on Saturday morning.

Local reports say police are operating with the belief the player fatally shot his girlfriend at a house before driving to Arrowhead Stadium and killing himself at around 8 a.m local time. The Associated Press reported the player's age to be 25.

"We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation."

There were no other injuries at the team facility, police said.

The Chiefs (1-10) were preparing to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The NFL has told the Panthers to travel as planned to Kansas City on Saturday, the Charlotte Observer has reported, citing interim general manager Brandon Beane.

Why doesn't that make sense?

It happens all the time, either someone gets jealous, or they snap and murder someone in a crime of passion. The first excuse is never because they were hit in the head too many times.

It's really pathetic to feel bad for someone that made a bad decision and committed a horrific crime against so many innocent people. It's a really selfish act. He didn't consider what it would do to his baby and all those surrounding him. He got pissed and lost it, should have walked away. Tomorrow is another day.

It's really sad all around, but no excuses necessary.

All sorts of good fans of other teams making high-quality posts on this forum. On behalf of CP, thank you.

Of course.

So what's the deal though...now suddenly he's the face of the franchise and wants to talk?

So slightly OT, but there were a few Panthers players at my place of employment this afternoon. I'm guessing the incident today messed with their pre-game preparation quite a bit. I'm wondering if they get any time to practice at all. I know the Chiefs aren't. Why in the world are they making these teams play a game after such an emotional event with less preparation than usual? It makes no sense.

Not sure the Patriot Way covers this. He may just feel better talking about it. Not sure how he will handle it considering he is a murder and the Chiefs need to tread lightly with that fact.

Ah, so you are right even though you were just wrong, and your story has changed...so now you are right for different reasons, right?

I'm not wrong, as I'm just expressing my opinion.

I don't care if was a momentary thing or not. He had no pity, compassion, or regard to his mother, his infant child, his coach & GM (even though he thanked them), and least of all his girlfriend...or himself. The list goes on. He just threw everything out the window & didn't give a fck about anything or anyone else except whatever self-centered thing he was fixated on. Blew up tons of people's lives in a completely despicable series of selfish and heinous acts.

Apply the word or phrase you like better, and tell me how it paints a prettier picture. How about "rage-filled" rampage? Is that better for ya? I would not feel differently about it regardless of any words you may want to apply.

This argument is pointless.

The Chiefs and the NFL said they would make grief counselors available to the players. On Saturday night, the players association dispatched former Chiefs player Brian Waters to the team hotel to counsel players.

It was reported that she was shot multiple times.

Cold-blood? Probably not.

But, multiple shots likely means he was ****ing pissed at her.

Redskins fan here. I offer my condolences and a prayer.

Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

With all the constant talk about this all day you would think it would have sank in. It seems more unreal now then it did this morning. It's almost a movie at this point. The fact that a starter for the Chiefs is dead and killed someone before killing himself is just unreal.

"I'm not wrong, I'm just expressing my opinion" Your opinion was wrong. Sorry you don't understand what words mean. If you don't like being called out for using words wrong, learn to use them correctly.
