I just crunched some numbers re: Brett Eibner...
Before last season, he drastically changed his approach at the plate, focusing on being more aggressive early in counts on pitches in the zone. The results are actually pretty drastic. Since that time, he has posted career-best contact and strikeout rates while maintaining his walk rate and finally taking advantage of his plus raw power. Before 2015, in stops LOWER than Omaha, Eibner had never hit better than .243 in a minor-league season, and he had never had a K rate under 30 percent. Over 538 ABs in Omaha in 2015 and 16, Eibner posted a triple slash of .304/.379/.520. That included 29 HR... and it is paired with a K rate in the low 20s. It's such a drastic improvement, it's almost suspicious. His primary change involves increasing his aggression (was told he was patient to a fault... focused too much on getting a perfect pitch he could hit out rather than just waiting for a hittable pitch in the zone or protecting the zone with two strikes), and the power was always there, so I can buy him being a late bloomer who was finally convinced to be more aggressive at the dish. But I can kind of believe this is a guy who was a non-reach second round pick finally figuring something out.

With Gordon out for the next month or so, Eibner should be the primary RF'er in the short term... Let's hope he solidifies himself as legitimate in this stretch, cause he was absolutely RAKING in Omaha.

I'd rather see him in LF with Dyson on the bench for late game defense & pinch runner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

All over Twitter from many reliable sources such as Jon Heyman that the ChiSux and Padres are in talks for trading James Shields.

50 games down from 80 for PEDs. In particular, he used a cold medicine that is used to cut weight.

Today's 9th should have helped you achieve that already.

Should we kick the tires on Shields? The likely trade deadline available starting pitching looks weak. If Toronto is out I wonder what it would take for Bautista or Encarnacion. I could tolerate Bausista for a few months.

No way, man. This team thrives off of locker room chemistry, I wouldn't want to risk a pre-madonna me first like Joey Batz.

And even if Toronto is way out of it, there is nothing short of a king's ransom that would get either of those two away from the Jays. |

Hootie has a better chance of being elected the main mod of CP than Jose Bautista has of being a Royal.
