18-Year-Old Teen Celebrates Birthday with Racy ‘Playboy Party’ – Set Up by Parents
The daughter of a California medical marijuana lawyer and a former PTA President got a little taste of the real world on her 18th birthday, when cops broke up a completely inappropriate party hosted at her parents’ home.
It wasn’t your typical teenage birthday party, ABC News 7 reports. It had a “Playboy Mansion” theme and between 150 and 200 teens were found at the home dressed in skimpy lingerie and bunny ears. Many were drinking or passed out. Neighbors’ complaints led police to the Poway home, where they found a party more suited for adults. The birthday girl’s father, Jeff Lake, was at the home and promptly arrested under the social host ordinance, which prohibits hosting a party where alcohol is available to underage people. Poway Mayor Steve Vaus told ABC News 7 he hopes to make an example out of this incident. “You have a party like this and it’s as though you’re handing out hand grenades as party favors,” said Poway Mayor Steve Vaus, who lives in the neighborhood. “It’s a disaster waiting to happen.” “I’d like to put a scarlet letter in front of the homes of people that do this, to say you can’t trust these folks, they make bad decisions related to kids’ safety,” he said. Something tells us, however that the birthday girl, Olivia Lake, didn’t exactly learn her lesson. According to ABC News 7, the next day she tweeted the following message: Huge thanks to everyone who was able to be a part of last night! I hope you all had a damn good time and that you’re all okay and safe. That tweet has since been removed. http://www.ijreview.com/2015/01/2290...nage-daughter/ |

It's a problem because underage drinking is a problem. A really, really big one. This guy is an idiot.

Vote for officials, die for your country, but not mature enough to drink. And I am the opposite on hosted parties, I think at least this way if you are properly supervising you can control the situation better than just letting them go binge drink somewhere hidden. |

It is a problem because we ostracize the concept. We make anyone that is under 21 go hide out to drink and then they binge drink. Why does the rest of the world with lower drinking habits not have the problem then?

This is worth trying. I've never heard of a fatal crash on a Big Wheel.

Hosting a party for a couple of hundred drunk teens in their underwear isn't solving the problem. Did you mean the rest of the world with lower drinking "ages" instead of "habits"?

but yes.. Our graduation party back in 97 was hosted by parents for a couple 100 kids. They made sure no one drank and controlled the rowdiness, that is infinitely better than what would have happened on our own. |
