****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

While I hesitate to ask this question, have you heard anything about the visit from the recruits last weekend. I can't imagine it is anything positive, but it would be nice to know if we pretty much shot ourselves in the foot both now and for future opportunities.

It won't hurt their recruiting any. Teams lose, that's football, recruits understand that. Shoot, a recruit verballed to Penn State after that butt whipping we just gave them, and it didn't bother him. Michigan always recruits well even though they always seem to under perform. Having undefeated seasons by no means would hurt your recruiting, I just don't think it is the end all be all. Mizzou didn't shoot themselves in the foot, that being said, I do think it is very important they win down the stretch.

Most of the reports/updates I've seen from recruits have actually been very positive.

They react to individual losses much less than we fans do, it seems. That's a consistent theme.

Feel pretty good about their chances with Niles Sykes, Markel Smith.

Sure why would they? They aren't emotionally invested yet like fans or players already in the program. Their interest is tied to the direction of the program which is virtually never shaped completely by the outcome of one game.

It seems to me that this type of loss is almost best case scenario for recruits. The kids watch a team that is incredibly close to greatness but not quite there...maybe just a player or two away.

It's certainly better than getting blown out & not much different from winning given you can point to individual play(s) had they gone the other way MU wins. I just don't think it (outcome) has much of an impact compared to the overall direction of the season & program & the experience of the visit in general.

Basically as far as recruiting goes it's NBD.

Incredibly close to greatness? I definitely wouldn't say that. If that was a National Championship game and they lost like that, I would say you may have had some validity. There is no team that is bordering on greatness this year IMO. Bama is good, but not great, I think the same of Oregon and FSU which I think are the top three teams in the country, then again, that is all my opinion.

So, I'm in Hawaii (Oahu) on my honeymoon (wife and I were married five years ago, but that was when we were both in college and broke, so we are finally on our honeymoon now that we aren't quite so broke). Anybody have any idea where I might be able watch the game Saturday? Preferably a bar where I can sit and watch football all day. TIA. Sorry for the off topic question.

Why would you want to spend all day watching TV when you're in Hawaii?
