Vicodin, Does it work for you?

I've had chronic back pain for quite some time now. The docs finally decided to go a bit harder on the drugs so I can sleep at night. They gave me a crapload of Vicodin and I was like, "Holy shit, I'm gonna get effed up and feel no pain!" Unfortunately this is the third night in a row I've taken it and I don't really feel a difference. I'm pretty dissapointed after listening to all those Eminem songs talking about it I'm gonna drink a beer to see if that helps.

Has anyone else had no effects from taking Vicodin? What could be the reason I'm not?

Thanks,

Have another beer on me!

The whole idea just sucks....
When my dr gave me pain killers for temp back condition he told me that
if the pain pills bother your stomach you don't need them anymore and he was right.
When in agony you don't notice the upset stomach.
I have an addictive personality too but that guide line made it easy to know when to stop.
Weed and vicodin = Win
The weed will take the edge off the stomach discomfort.
Not either but both.

Same here. 3 times and never did they work or make me drowsy. I'm pretty sure I still have all 3 bottles somewhere...almost filled to the topo.

Really? I'd be curious to see that information. Everything I know about it is that it's a safer, preferred alternative to opiates. The problem is that it's not nearly strong enough for a lot of people suffering from chronic pain. I have two different relatives who take it fairly regularly, though, so I'd be interested in seeing these side effects. Most sources say that it has few side effects, and that they're rare.

I have an addictive personality and after my knee surgery I was prescribed oxys. What I found is, only use these pills when you're in dire need of the pain relief. Your mind can occasionally "flare up" the pain insisting that you take more pills, but just self evaluate and be certain that you need that pill.

By keeping it in check that way I always felt that I was in control of the med, not the other way around, so when it came time to stop I had no issues.

Good luck on your surgery.

I don't think you need to worry about it. If you have legitimate, short-term pain like you'll have after a surgery, you won't get addicted to the pain killers unless you want to. Just take them until the pain gets to a tolerable level and then switch to over-the-counter meds or nothing at all.

Vicodin does nothing for me. Works for some people. Just keeps me awake with the pain. Threw my leftovers down the toilet. Now Percs, those work.

Fortunately for all that ails me, I must wait till something blows out to get it repaired or wait until ObamaCare kicks in. My doctor advised me its going to be a long time before I will get the surgeries done to stop the pain.

In the meantime, they ( ObamaCare ) want me to scale down and live in more pain. No crap, we will be looking for alternative ways ( which is good for the body ) to combat the pain, but that I will have to live in more pain than I do now by taking less narcotics.

They want to do this with my wife, a bed ridden woman terminally ill on 2 x 80 mg of oxcycotin daily,4 x 10mg oxcycodone, 3 x 800mg nuerotin. This is what piss's me off about the ObamaCare crap.

They need to get their crap together. We both have to go in for a narcotic examination, a $ 250.00 mandatory evaluation to continue getting our medication this month.

$ 500.00 from a poor middle class family that I do not have the funds in these tough times. If we miss the appointments, they cut us off,if we can't pay, they cut us off.

What was that CRAP about HEALTH PANELS ?

That's QUALITY HEALTH CARE at it's finest, it's OBAMACARE FOR AMERICANS.

Vicodin works great for me. Was on it for about a month because of 2nd almost 3rd degree burns. Quit cold turkey with no problems.

What was first thought to be a super severe toothache and turned out to be Trigeminal Neuralgia it worked for a few hours but I had to pop two.

I did notice it made my sex drive go sky high which is bad since I want it multiple times a day anyway. I even ended up calling up a psychologist since it was starting to cause problems in my relationship not knowing that it was a side effect of the drug and using them on a daily basis.

Now I'm a freak when it comes to pills. I don't like the idea at all. Heres what I read...

Pain Meds effect people differently.
For some, they act as an upper and for others a downer.

For instance; Tramadol is considered a very moderate pain reliever even sold over the counter in other parts of the world. To a lot of people it may not even be felt, but for some reason my body reacts VERY nicely to it.
