Green Bay had signed 4 FA's in 25 years...they signed 2 yesterday.

Things have massively changed.

Things have changed to the point where the economics of the game have went completely out of whack.

The problem in todays sports and not just pro football is that the value of the contracts that are being signed do not match the level of productivity whatsoever.

Its pretty simple that as a team you 3 choices in how to build your team; FA, draft and trades. Because you’re not going to address your team primarily through the draft or trades, sometimes FA can’t be ignored.

The smart organizations primarily build through the draft and sometimes use trades as an option and if they were to tap into FA, they make low, under the radar signings and tend to shy away from players that demand ludicrous contracts that make them overvalued.

For example, Vikings sign Kirk Cousins to a 3 yr/$84 mill contract fully guaranteed? No ****ing way is he worth that. That is an example of an overvalued player and quite clearly a desperation move by the Vikings.

I dont think his level of play will be justified through that contract. Anyway, like I said, smart organizations make low under the radar signings as a way to maximize the value of the player. Thats how you play FA and make the best possible moves for your team.

Denver is allowed an additional number of picks which brings the total to 3500

The Vikings have a great defense and some talented offensive weapons. They had 3 cheaper options at QB that they easily could have retained. "Desperation move" seems like a mischaracterization. I don't think Cousins is worth that much, but the Vikings definitely do.

While we're waiting, with the Smith and Peters trades, Hali, DJ, and Parker cut, along with other departures, do we have any money? I realize we have to pay for the 2 FAs and Fuller, so how much is left? With the exception of a backup QB and a serviceable CB, I'd almost like to take any remaining cash and try to lock up one of our young studs.
