With the DayZ standalone playable alpha release looming, I thought I would check out the mod version of the game. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

If you dont know, DayZ is an open world survival zombie game modification based off of the military sim ArmA 2 games. www.dayzmod.com

Basically its hardcore mode survival against zombies and even more dangerous, other players.

I have been watching vids for months and took advantage of a steam sale today to pick up ArmA 2.

Anyone playing DayZ right now? Servers? Thoughts? I have a teamspeak we can use!

i bought it. downloading now. I havent gamed on a PC in a long long time. This will be interesting. I hope my PC can handle it, its fairly old!

where the **** do you get the information on controls my guy got stuck in a figthting stance and i couldnt move around, it was stupid. He wouldnt turn, he was stuck in one position and i had to either move strife or move backwards to get where i needed to go.

Haha, well. There is none built into the game. You had pressed likely star on your number pad, which locks you head to mouselook. If you google it you can find a listing of controls.

ok, getting the hang of it, but i havent seen one zombie yet and only 1 player. there are like 10 on the server i picked up. I havent found food or anything but a stupid hat. lol

my dude is all hungry and thirsty and i havent found shit. haha

So when you first start out know this.

1 - As it is now, the loot spawns only reset when the server resets (dynamic loot to hit experimental patch next week)

2 - If you want some player interaction, choose a server with 30-40 people on it and you will find plenty around the coastline.

3 - zombies should be in any area with buildings, more so in cities, they DO dynamically respawn.

4 - TRUST NOONE!

We will help you out later tonight. Once you get the hang of it its much easier.

Oh and remember, its best to have a mic. Nearly everyone communicates via in game voice chat, which is push to talk by pressing caps lock.

yeah, i used to play Everquest religiously for years and years. ole Teamspeak and Ventrilo. lol I need to find my mic. I havent gamed on a PC since i quit mmo's back in like late 2009.

I need to get a comfortable computer desk as well. The Chair i haven o sucks really bad. Terrible back support. Imma have to hit up some online yard sales and find a good one.

lol, i died like 3 times already. Ran into some zombies finally. They bastards chase you forever. I have no weapons or anything. I found a can of tuna i opened it up and i died from my wounds. lol

Im getting the hang of it finally, you dont start out with shit. Its pretty rough right now. I need to find a weapon or something.
