-- I realize I'm late to the show - 90's alternative help.......?

Hey guys - I'm looking for some bands similar to STP or Dinosaur Jr. I like the tracks that were popular enough to remember - however not the ones that were beaten to death by mainstream. It's a fine line.

Here's an example of what I'm looking for in this genre...

http://tinyurl.com/mnkvzy

If you all can help, that'd be great - I was listening mostly to hip-hop and electronica, even back then. So I missed a decade - aside from the Counting Crows and maybe Smashing Pumpkins - so eliminate those, please.

Sisters of Mercy...???

The video I posted is precisely the style, and level of popularity (at that time) that I am looking for

Any help?

Creed and Nickleback are products of the record companies, manufactured/packaged/sure things for radio... like boy bands, except boy bands are honest and up front about it. Candlebox is in there because they were absolutely horrid live, couldn't replicate the sound from the studio.

I really liked what was coming from the other side of the pond in the early 90's... Jesus Jones, Soup Dragons, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, etc...

Holy throwback. Great thread...I'll jump in here in a minute.

Ned's had two bass players IIRC, they had a great sound.

I saw them at a festival in Germany '94. They played early day 1 of a two day festival. I thought they were pretty damn good.

Side note: Rollins and Suicidal Tendencies blew my mind on day two.
