DC feuds and moderation

We (meaning the mods, cause let's be honest I don't do really do jack around here) are done being used in your petty feuds here in DC. So from here on out if you and another poster decide to say mean things to each other... have at it but leave it OFF THE MAIN BOARD and leave us out of it. Don't bother reporting their posts because you will be ignored. If they TRULY cross the line I'm sure a 3rd party will report it and it can be dealt with.... if the mods think it is worth dealing with at all which is doubtful because we are tired of this shit. If you get tired of feuding and TRULY disengage the other poster and put them on IGNORE and they continue to harass you... we'll step in then... maybe. Seriously kids, deal with this crap yourselves, we have put plenty of tools at your disposal to do so. Forcing the mods to get involved causes more harm than good...but let me stress this again... leave it off the main board.

Let me also be clear here and say that the mods have been acting in good faith and trying to deal with this crap in the past in as fair and impartial a manner as possible... but going forward I thinks it's better for everyone if we stay out of it entirely. This, however, doesn't mean a free pass to act stupid. IF a mod feels it's necessary to step in they will and your best bet is to just accept it and move on. This "clarification" is simply to say - don't EXPECT us to help you fight your battles in DC for you.

That's a step in the right direction, AFAIC.
It's not arbitrary as you suggest. This site registers upwards of 3000 new posts per day. Sometimes double or even triple that. We can't be expected to see every post. We certainly can't be expected to moderate DC. So if something gets reported, we are obligated to either take action or ignore it. If it's a racial slur, we usually slap somebody's hand and hope it doesn't happen again. It's true that there is a difference in opinion in what constitutes a racial slur amongst the mod team and even Kyle. My rule of thumb is that if I wouldn't call a random Mexican on the street "Lawnboy" or a black guy "Uncle Tom" then it's probably a racial slur. I think that's probably a fair and accurate barometer. You may disagree. I'm okay with that. I'm also okay not getting stuck in the middle of DC garbage any longer. The truth is, you're generally unhappy with any kind of moderation on this site aside from one attaboy regarding the Frankie ban after he threatened legal action.

Thanks Frazod. You've turned into a raving lunatic the past year or so. It's good to know that our 13+ year friendship was strong enough that a 24 hour ban cracked it. Fair enough dude. You keep making friends, dude. I still got love for you but you might check into medication options at some point.

Actually, it was more like 16, and the only reason it was that long is because the non-power trippers that run the place were out last night and had better things to worry about this morning. Sorry about that. I guess I've got better things to do than kiss your egomanicial ass. Hope you don't get pissed off and try to found your website over it or anything. That would just break my ****ing heart.

Oh, and you can shove your love. You're as dead to me as Neil Smith.

Dude.

I recognize that the randomness of reporting is a big part of it, but it's hard to believe our moderators are as oblivious to the nature of the feuding and namecalling that takes place here at CP on a pretty regular basis as they pretend to be. For example, I find it implausible that Phobia, for example, has never seen unreported posts from guys like Frazod, for example, that match or exceed those for which he's issued bans to people whose posts were reported. And even if that really is true, surely there are other moderators who could have pointed the disparate treatment out to him.

The reporting deal is one part of it, but (a) moderators who don't prioritize consistent results (but instead feel good about following a consistent process that yields inconsistent results) and (b) the lack of clear cut rules about what constitutes a forbidden racial slur are part of it too.
