Spinoff: Trade Alex Smith For Geno Smith Straight Up?

I can honestly see reasons for both a yes or no answer. I'm just interested in the opinions of those who are more football savvy than me.

What say you?

Compare his numbers to Brady's first two years. Yeah.

Russell Wilson is going to be in the HOF.

I said yes. I understand it sounds ridiculous. I would do it for this reason:

Geno contract: 2014: $633,164, 2015: $585,000 (+ $276,328 workout bonus), 2016: $675,000 (+ $414,491 workout bonus),

That frees up $7 million (Alex contract) this yr.

Chiefs have a strong run game and defense to allow geno to develop. Let him duke it out with Daniel, Bray, and anyone else the team brings in to camp.

I realize its a gamble, but its also an opportunity to get a young guy for the longterm on a cheap contract while plugging wholes at other positions with the freed up salary cap space. It will also make a difference in 2015 when Alex Smith becomes either a free agent or someone making big bucks.

Wilson vs Alex shouldn't even be discussed. Wilson has surpassed Alex after only 2 years in the league.

Geno vs Alex is interesting since the Chiefs seem hell bent on ruining Alex's best years by having a dog shit D-coordinator and not upgrading the offensive talent. So I might take the Geno upside of the future over wasting away Alex's prime years like the team is doing now.
