I'm glad the Star found their balls.

Alex Smith has to go ASAP if we're going to salvage anything from the careers of Bowe and Charles.

This is just a few of the entire season. The first thing written in the article is how pathedic the OL and WR's are then Mellinger being a dumbass shows GIFS of what he did bad? Did it not say Smith is a good QB?

You can't slam the OL and WR's and the play calling while also writing that Alex is a good QB and post video of his few failures. No doubt those are bad plays by Smith but there fifty times worse plays by the OL and WR's.

Smith did not change from last year to this one. He is what he is and he needs what all but 3 QB's in the league need to win. A solid ground game, OL and capable WR's and this off season that personnel changed not him. Making the playoffs would have been a waste anyway. As if this team would have won three road games.

The Buffalo game. He got pounded but still manged to find Bowe with big time throws. I almost changed my mind about Bowe after that game.

So you're telling me Russell Wilson would have gone to the Super Bowl if the 49ers would've scored instead of throwing a pick on that final play? The defense did their job and kept the lead unlike the Chief's defense in those 2 games.

Alex has had the chance late to drive for a game winner or tie in pretty much every loss of 7 points or less over the past two years.

He's thrown egregious INTs (@SF 2014), failed to convert on 4th downs (@Denver 2014, Denver 2013), and failed to gain more than 15 yards with 90 seconds on the clock (@ Arizona 2014).

Meanwhile, the defense held it's own for the most part. They allowed just 22 and 24 points in the two games you keep referencing. They had so many crucial 4th down stops it's incredible. Didn't allow a single 300 yard passer. Didn't allow over 30 points a single time.

What the **** did Alex do that was noteworthy?

The defense was NOT THE PROBLEM.

It didn't allow a 30+ point game all year. That is INSANE with how stupid the rules have gotten.

Your mancrush sucked. End of story.

No amount of pro bowl WRs and OL will help him. He's JAG and a loser.

Maybe you can ask some of the Niner fans on here to comment.....

But in the 2 years where I saw every single snap Alex took, I cannot remember a single time where I said "WOW!!! That was an amazing throw!"

Not once. It seems on average, I can find at least one eye popping throw in every game I watch, even from below average QBs like Andy Dalton. But not once in two years can I remember one coming from Alex Smith.

This seems to be the excuse that most Alex apologists use to excuse missed opportunities by Alex.

YES, all quarterbacks miss throws and opportunities. Problem is because Alex:

a) doesn't attempt many big throws
b) leads an offense that doesnt score many points, so games are always close
c) is so quick to check down and misses bigger plays so often

.....said missed opportunities are completely magnified. When Tom Brady throws for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns in a game that the Patriots are up a decent amout, the handful of plays that he misses are not a big deal in the slightest bit. When Alex throws for 180 yards and no touchdowns in a game that we are either up or down one score, the missed plays are magnified as HUGE reasons for a potential loss.

Speaking of the 2-14 team, Matt Cassel was able to complete 5 TD's to WR's. Great WR's like, John Baldwin (1), Dwayne Bowe (3), and Dexter McCluster (1).

On a 2-14 team...That's 5 more than Alex.

Scorching analysis... a cornucopia of pants shitting.

"well in that one game he came back from 10 down!" sorry, that doesnt matter, its an outlier, 10 points is a minimum amount of deficit to be considered great.

Should he manage to overcome a 17-21 point lead NEXT year I will reconsider... but a loser until proven otherwise he is.
