PFT Interview: Maclin learned of release by voicemail from Dorsey

You can tell he lost all respect for Dorsey with his tone. Kind of a shitty way to do it, but it is what it is.

nope. Cause it's a business, and it's not personal, and it's about doing what's best for the organization.

You have to make a choice - do you want to be a professionally-run organization - or a mom and pop puppies and ice cream organization?
People do get butthurt when Charles goes to the Broncos, though.

I'm surprised that people are surprised by this. He tried to call him but couldn't reach him, so he left a message. Was he supposed to take him out to dinner to cut him?

The only thing that sucks about cutting Maclin is that there wasn't offset language in his contract, which would have saved even more money against the Chiefs cap.

I bet a bunch of people around here would've liked to see Pioli get fired via a banner flown over the stadium.

Which, now that I think about it, would have been interesting to see.

Yup. I get it, 12 million and he's over paid this year. You drop him if your a garbage team. But this team could contend for a Super Bowl. You pay him because you don't have anybody better.

You're right.

How can they possibly replace 436 yards and 2 TD's?

Chip Kelly used to have a dinner party at Eagles stadium where he would invite their family and then CUT GUYS AT THE DINNER PARTY.

This is way less than that. This happens all the time in the NFL, I don't know why people are making a big deal about Jeremy Maclin. There are guys better than him still getting cut and nobody is making a big deal about it.

Is it because the Chiefs are good? If they were bad people would just chalk this up as cost cutting/tanking like they are Decker and the Jets? It's so stupid, this is a non issue.

If anything agents and future players should be looking at the Chiefs with money signs in their eyes with the contracts the Chiefs have been giving out. Oh you gave Dwayne Bowe 55 million? Jeremy Maclin 55 million? They didn't see the life of their contracts but still got 2 years 25-28 million guaranteed out of that? That's probably way more than I am worth so let me sign with the Chiefs and be very set for life until they cut me and take a loss.

Even more reason to cut him. He's hurt every single year. Not paying huge $$ to a player that can't stay on the field.

2 yr, 11 mil contract.

That really says it all. For a scheme that doesn't GAF about focusing on a WR1, no need to overpay like that. Not for a team so tight against the cap, and not for an already marginal WR1 that we can't trust to be on the field.

From a financial standpoint, this was a necessary cut.

Maclin could never stay healthy.

However, a healthy and focussed Maclin is a perfect fit for Alex Smith.

It is no coincidence that Smith had what is probably his best season in '15 with a healthy Maclin, and reverted back to the useless bag of shit he has always otherwise been with a dinged up and distracted Maclin in '16.
