Idealy , if we had a VB5 theme ready (the majority of the work is here) we could do the hardware and software migration simultaneously. Not much chance of that though.
I haven't paid much attention - is VB5 still widely regarded to be a buggy piece of shit?

Unfortunately yes but it has gotten much better. I have researched other options but I think in the end it will be best to stick with VB.

One nice thing about VB5 is that I can pay an extra $200 and get the code to release a CP Android or iOS app to replace crappy Tapatalk.

The big hold up right now is actually the issue of creating a theme for it. I have very limited graphics skills and not even time to build one out.

If there are any volunteers who want to work on a VB5 site design... speak up and I can set up a demo CP site to mess with!

Not a fan of AWS for this but yeah that is basically the process minus a few steps and replace AWS with a different dedicated server.

If you're to the point you want to seriously try and make it happen soon, I'm in as usual.

I'm ready to but the sticking point is still the damn template/visual design aspect. I'm at the point where I may look at one of the firms that I could hire to do that.

I'll at least try to mess around and see if I can make it workable. But if there's any way a pro might be able to do it in the budget, that would be awesome.

I'd bet we could get at least $500-$1k in donations from people to help out if it'll get anywhere close. I suspect it would be considerably more than that though unless you find someone who already knows vb5 really well.

I'm tempted to go with a pretty big change and switch to something like Google Material Design.
http://www.google.com/design/spec/ma...oduction.html#

It seems to lend itself to the new VB structure pretty well but I think our "freak out" factor would be pretty damn high.
