Good article Breakdown of Chiefs Offense Problems

Sorry if repost. This article may already be located deep in some other thread.
I think it deserves it's own thread though. And since I am awesome, you are going to let it slide. Discuss more Alex Smith/ Andy Reid/ and OL hate here.

I honestly think that if we had a QB with a gun that this offense would explode.

Our oline sucks, but they get no breaks because the defenders can stack the box. Just the threat of getting beat deep would back them off.

However, I firmly believe with a more dynamic receiver as the top gun and a real offensive line, Smith will start taking more shots. It is obvious when you watch the film that he's ready to unload the ball immediately. He doesn't trust his line, and why should he?

When I watched the playoff game (six times) last year, Smith didn't show those traits. He sat back in the pocket and looked down the field longer, telling me he was confident in having a few seconds to throw. Get some better offensive linemen and this problem becomes a lesser issue.

Nailed it BIG time!

That's not true.

Donnie Avery is a legit 4.3 guy and Albert Wilson ran a 4.38.

There is speed there...Alex just doesn't trust his own arm to make those throws.

This kind of overview of the field is what I miss about seeing the Chiefs in person. You get to see the missed oppertunitys. Now, to be fair, we could pull up Brady/Manning tape and it will also show missed oppertunitys. Thats the nature of the QB position. But, Smith does seem to check out more than most QB's.

Of course. EVERYONE makes mistakes. It just becomes a problem when the net effect of all the missed plays and opportunities outweighs all the positives. At this point in time, Smith's conservative play style is costing us a shit ton more yards, 3rd down conversions, TOP, and points than his lack of turnovers is worth.

Like Jamaal for instance. You deal with him occasionally fumbling or dropping a pass because the next time he gets a carry it makes a catch, you know he'll make up for it.

These are perfect to show the idiots on this board the truth about Bowe as well.

I mean, if you thought Bowe magically went from a perennial 1,000 yard receiver to a 500 yard guy in one offseason then you really are a ****ing reerun and there's no hope for you. Sadly, that seems to be about 80% of this board.

He's still the same guy he ever was. He's open on short routes, he's open down field, he's open on double moves, and he's still lethal after the catch.

Now they'll just move on to the "offensive line" excuses.

Peyton Manning wouldn't be able to do anything this offensive line!

Kelce is probably in the top 10 for TEs as far as speed is concerned.

Everyone knows Jamaal is one of the fastest out there...

It sucks to have to acknowledge that the second half of last year for Alex Smith may have been fools gold...but everyone here needs to understand that distinct possibility.

I think there can also be an article written on how terrible Andy Reid utilizes his weapons... and his terrible play calling.

What happened to DAT? Why does Charles stop getting the ball? Knile Davis is pretty damn good too.
Um...did you read the article?

From the article:
Quote:
Well, the offensive line and the receivers are offseason priorities for John Dorsey. Reid is very handicapped as to what he can do with some of the play calls while McGlynn and Ryan Harris are starters. Without any question, Jeff Allen returning will be a major help, but some money and high draft picks should be used on this group.

Obviously it is going to be something they address in the off season..(and it should be). BUT people are silly if they think it's going to fix Alex Smith's confidence issues automatically.
Those probably stem back to throwing a gazillion INT's his first many seasons.

Used to date a girl nicknamed Sandpaper Sally. It was pretty good of you could get her to pick the scabs off first.
