OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Police say an employee with the COPS television show was shot Tuesday night while working on the show that is filiming in Omaha.

Police responded to the Wendy's at 43rd and Dodge around 9:20 Tuesday night for an armed robbery call. Deputy Chief Dave Baker said shots were fired. He said the suspect died. The COPS employee was taken to Nebraska Medical Center.

We do not know who shot the suspect or who shot the COPS employee. We also do not know what condition the COPS employee is in.

Officials said the robbery suspect apparently had an Airsoft gun, a type of gun that often looks like an actual firearm.
The victim was described as the crew member who holds the microphone. He was taken from the scene in extremely critical condition.
The robbery suspect was a parolee from Kansas, law enforcement sources said.
Police will hold a 2:30 p.m. press conference to release more details on the shooting. Stay with Omaha.com for live video and updates from the press conference.
