Everette Golson... what if he calls?

I tagged this for Mizzou, because it is a tougher call than any of the other local schools.

Mizzou has a returning QB, but he's (IMO) pretty below average. He wins, but he can't be trusted. Most of the wins are in spite of him.

So what do you do if Golson calls and wants to transfer?

Do you take him and burn the bridges with not only the current Mizzou QB, but also his dad who is a HSHC in Missouri?

BTW, there has been nothing I've seen connecting him to Mizzou. It's just qan interesting thing to think about.

I would take him. Mauk would most likely transfer but Lock is right behind him and you'd hope that Lock is ready in 2016.

This will never happen btw.

He reportedly wants to go to Florida State.

You don't want him.

Golson is Mauk.

He's erratic, he's interception prone, he'll lock onto his first read and will often rely too much on his athleticism to bail him out of the first look isn't there.

Why would I run out a 2-year(ish) starter to bring in Golson. Our offense isn't that complicated but chemistry with your targets is tough to build and with a whole new WR corps, if we try to bring in a new QB as well it would just be a damn mess.

No way - this is a terrible idea. Golson's not an appreciable upgrade on Mauk and this is a program that's thrived almost exclusively because of its stability and loyalty to its players. The moment Pinkel starts dumping junior starters to bring in senior transfers is the moment he'll stop getting guys like Lock to commit early and turn away overtures from ND, Ohio State and Michigan.

All of this and he's soft.

Dude was straight horrible last year with his turnovers. He went into this season in a competition with a better QB in Malik Zaire and he bailed at the start of it. Good riddance from the perspective of an Irish fan.

I wouldn't be too harsh on him as an irish fan. If the officials didn't over rule his last touchdown pass versus Florida State Notre Dame would have made the play offs. Instead he and the whole team folded like a pack of cards. Plus he played a part in the near magical season of 2012. I wish him all the best.

Dude.....that team folded because they were young and inexperienced. Even if they beat the Seminoles in that game....they weren't winning the rest of their games. It would have just made losing those last games even harder to take.

Did he play a part in that NC season? Yeah. But Tommy Rees did as well. He came in and closed out games for them. I'm glad to see Golson and Rees gone. Zaire is a better QB anyways.

I'll still never figure out the hatred for TD Tommy.

Maybe it's because ND is a secondary rooting interest for me, but I thought Rees was a fine player. ND fans just massacre the poor bastard because he didn't set the world on fire as a Sophomore but don't give him much credit for the times he pulled ND back from the flames as a JR when he'd relieve Golson. Golson became the new hotness among the fanbase and they used that as a chance to continue shitting on Rees for a tough 2nd season.

In his SR season he lost 4 games, 3 of them to ranked opponents and in all 3 of those games he actually played pretty decent football (twice on the road) only to watch a young defense fail.

Reese was a good QB who never got a fair shake, IMO.

Dude....we call him Turnover Tommy for a reason. Did he have a decent career at ND? Yeah. But the guy is what he is....an average QB without a ton of talent. He's basically Rudy playing QB.
