Sounds like a plan. I don't worry about it too much. Cities like Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago to name a few are ones I want some extra intel on. It ain't easy being a good guy living in a bad guy world!

There's a restaurant/bar in the airport that makes a great bloody mary with a crab claw on the side and great crab cakes. Other than that, it's kind of hard to sleep in the airport.

Fells Point (about 5 minute walk from Inner Harbor) is a neat place to visit. There's a cool little bar there called the "The Greene Turtle" that we always went to for some beer and grub. You'll also get a view of some crazy big navy ships from the shoreline. If you're looking for hot tail you can do a whole lot worse than Baltimore so scrub your ass, shave and put on some decent duds if your looking. Take taxis at night and you'll be fine.

I passed through there in December and had an odd experience.
I got into the airport around midnight and was in my car headed to the hotel at around 1:00 a.m. I was driving through an office park area near the airport - modern area, looked nice - and as far as I could tell there were no residences anywhere nearby. I saw a bunch of people on a corner further up, and was curious. This was all office buildings, and I didn't see any restaurants or theaters or anything that would be open at that time of night. All of a sudden I realized that several people were milling around in the street, too. I slowed down to be sure I didn't hit anybody. It was about 30 young men who all looked to be in their early 20s. They were all just standing around in the middle of this otherwise deserted place. I have to think that there was some reason for it, because they didn't look like they were out for trouble or anything, but it was weird. Maybe there was a movie theater that I couldn't see or something that had just let out? Anyway, I got past them and stopped at the next light, and my rental car engine stopped. It turned out that it was one of those new cars that turns off whenever it comes to a stop, and then it restarts when you take your foot off the brake, but there was about 3 seconds there when I was not feeling good about things.

Inner Harbor. If you have free time D.C. or Annapolis. Also Fort McHenry held the British off during the war of 1812.

Stay near the water. Fells Point, Federal Hill are also fun neighborhoods. Catch a game at Camden Yards....great ballpark.

Out of large cities in the US, you're driving into the one with the 10th most violent crime per capita so you can fly to the city with the 6th most violent crime per cap. Normally, this would seem to be poor planning but if St. Louis was your other option to fly out of you've chosen wisely!

As everyone has said check out the inner harbor, and eat some crab cakes, BROILED not fried. Steamed crabs might not be the best this early in the season, but are still worth getting a dozen or two!
If you go to Fells Point, there is a bar called Max's that has like 100 beers on tap you have to check out. If you go to Federal Hill, near the Orioles/Ravens stadiums, go to a bar called Mother's. The O's are in town this week, so check out a game if you can. PM me if you happen to go Wednesday as i'll be there. Tix are cheap during the week, like $7 - 10. In the inner harbor itself, check out the aquarium (worth the $) and the science center. There's a Rusty Scupper near the Science center that has a GREAT happy hour. |

If you have a car, try and grab lunch at Cantlers (http://www.cantlers.com/). Can watch the boats pull in about noon and unload their catch. About 1 or 2 you can have the catch of the day. My fav is the stuffed rockfish.
If you have time, it's trophy season right now for Striper/Rockfish. Grab a charter south of the bridge and catch a couple of 3 footers. Use the inner harbor water taxi. Been a few years, but it was $10 last time I went, and they gave you a coupon book full of buy 1 get 1 beers for the bars in Fell's Point / Canton. Awesome way to barhop. The water landing at Fell's Point is/was right next to the Homicide TV show building.

Oh, and if anyone tries to recommend Scrapple, tell 'em to **** right the hell off. It's some nasty ass sausage made from whatever shit fell on the kitchen floor the day before (OK, not really, but it is nasty).
