The "100s OF FLAVORZ!1" soda machines at fast food restaurants suck venomous cock

Yeah, grape-flavored Dr. Pepper is hard to come by in most grocery stores (if they sell it at all) but what's the point of having all these flavors of soda if every single last one of them tastes like chilled Malaysian urine?

It all comes out of the same shitty nozzle. You can totally taste other shit in there if you just get water from the machine. Fountain pop isn't supposed to taste like half-flat made-from-concentrate water sludge.

Is this some sort of cost-saving measure on Coca Cola's part? By loading up a regular soda fountain with over 100 different flavors of goat rectum juice, does it somehow save the fast food place money? It would seem to me that if you buy larger syrup canisters (if that's how that stuff even works) in only 5-10 different varieties, it would be much cheaper. If I'm right, then that leaves zero good reason for fast food places to use these machines.

If this trend doesn't slow down, I may have to commit acts of terrorism on these machines. I don't want to, but these restaurants leave me no choice.

Maybe it's just what a person is accustomed to, but I don't like the real-sugar sodas. Give me the industrialized chemical version every time.

Can you taste the difference in them? A lot of people really can't which is one of the reasons that hfcs became so widespread in them.

The sugar cane pop is less sweet and easier to drink IMO.

Is there a taste difference with the Pure Cane Sugar versions of Dr Pepper? Do you all think it tastes better or fresher or something?
Cane Sugar is generally better in all sodas. If nothing else, it usually indicates a 'curated' batch as opposed to the mass mass mass market stuff. You get cane Coke in mexican/jewish bottles. Other cane sodas are stuff like Blue Sky and Boylen. Also, cane sugar is more about mouth feel than flavor. HFCS is slightly more oily/syrupy, as well as slightly more sweet, than cane.

What I look for more than sugar though is a good nutmeg bite in Coke Classic or a strong whiff of plum in Dr. Pepper. Pepsi is entirely too sweet for me, cane sugar or no.

WTF

Do we have a soda snob here or something?

HRRRRMMMMM, When I chew this coca cola it comes on strong with overtones of nutmeg and cane, but finishes on a light, woody note.

Thought the grape sprite would be awesome. I was wrong. I normally go with Vanilla Bargs. I'm no germophobe so I have no quarrel with the machine

Don't drink nearly as much soda as I use to though. When I do it's normally Ginger Ale or DP

Have you ever tasted Coke when the nutmeg is strong? Nectar of the Gods!!

It's not all that different than Barq's promoting their root beer as 'the one with bite' [which AFAIK has been their exclusive slogan]. They recognize that soda is better when it's a little more dry and a lot less sweet. Sometime try Pepsi/Coke or Barqs/A&W side by side. It's not a subtle difference.

I don't know?

My favorite thing about coke is when it is super fizzy and tingles the back of my throat.

Seriously though, super fizzy is what 7-Up in the bottle is for. Gives your hiccups.

I generally feel that cans give a better cold and fizz experience. Plastic bottles seem less cold and more frothy. I haven't experienced enough glass bottles in my adult life to have an opinion on those.

Strange, I'm just the opposite. Especially Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew in the can might as well be flat. OTOH, the newer 16oz plastic bottles retain better and the size and bottle are great for putting in the freezer to get just below freezing, then ice over when the pressure is released. Glass is best portable fizz. A proper fountain [QT] is the best fizz available, so long as you don't waste it dumping it on a pile of ice.

Every time I've used those machines, they worked fine.

Maybe it's because I get a common drink. Cherry-Vanilla Diet Dr. Pep.

Weird.

Here's a good question.

How long until we see a Starbucks vending machine like this?

That might be kinda awesome.

It's probably because you're ordering something that tastes like shit already when it's right.
