Beloved: Your Favorite Chiefs. Round 1, Heat 21. Receivers, Part 4

We only have two more heats after this, so we're close to the semi-finals. Who's going to be there?

Remember - FAVORITE, not necessarily best. The guys you liked the most for whatever reason.

I'm going with:

#1 - Dante Hall. Man, he was fun to watch, and I liked how well he got along with Dick Vermeil. Vermeil and the special teams coach saved his career, and he knew it.

#2 - JJ Birden. He was fun to watch, and I liked him too because he was so far removed from Marty's typical players. Marty liked big rumbling blockers at every position, and then somehow this tiny little wide receiver managed to win a starting job. That was cool.

#3 - Gloster Richardson. I'm going old school on this one. I don't think I ever saw Gloster play, but I'm giving him my vote because he was one of the most active people in the big Chiefs-Raiders fight, helping defend Otis against their dirty players.

Here's a rather entertaining article from the next day: http://news.google.com/newspapers?ni...g=4855,3617368. The Raiders kicked off from the Chiefs' 30-yard line? In today's game you would kill a fan by doing that.

Honorable mention:

Tony Gonzalez. I like Tony. I've heard that he's sometimes a little too cool for school, but he earned that right. And he was good about lecturing young players at the end of his career. I have nothing against Tony.

Dwayne Bowe. I like Dwayne. If he leaves the Chiefs I wish him well. He seems like a nice guy.

Derrick Alexander. He had an amazing season that one year, and I always hear that he's a nice guy. He was so fluid to watch; he reminded me of James Lofton, who is one of my favorite non-Chiefs.

Ed Beckman. A career backup tight end who was always there when needed.

Morris Stroud. As a kid, it was cool that my team had the NFL's tallest player ever.

I would have voted for Dante but I think of him much more for his special teams work than as a receiver.

I'm lovin' me some Robb Thomas. He seemed to do whatever it took to get his hands to the ball and catch everything thrown his way. But..for whatever reason..he got cut and Seattle snagged him right up.

I can't blame Gonzo for wanting the **** out of KC.

I think he's a giant douchebag for signing a high dollar/long term contract and the very next year complaining about wanting out. You decided the money was worth more than winning. Tough $#it...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
