Walter Football Mock Draft

I think I could FAP to this (although I don't agree on the Bowe comment.)

1. Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
The Chiefs are terrible. They need to clean house and start over, as the awesome @saveourchiefs Twitter handle will tell you. They have to fire people in the front office, including Scott Pioli, who has done an awful job. They also need to find a franchise quarterback. Thanks to stupid plays, as seen on Monday night at Pittsburgh, they're currently projected to have a very early selection, which means they'll be in position to take Geno Smith.

Smith is now atop the mock again in the wake of Matt Barkley's struggles. Barkley injured his shoulder against UCLA, so his chances of revitalizing his stock are slim.

By the way, I'm doing this live because I thought it'd be fun to get instant feedback. I'm going to post my mock anyway, so why not do it this way? Follow @walterfootball for updates.

34. Robert Woods, WR, USC
Kansas City's new quarterback will need a new receiver if Dwayne Bowe leaves. I wouldn't spend the money on Bowe; he's overrated because he's inconsistent and piles up most of his stats in garbage time. He was responsible for both of Matt Cassel's interceptions against the Ravens.

62. Margus Hunt, DE/DT, SMU
Glenn Dorsey will be a free agent in March and Tyson Jackson is due more than $14 million next year, so it appears as though their disappointing tenures in Kansas City are coming to an end.

I've seen Tavon Austin slip down to around our 2nd round pick and wouldn't mind him either. Instant chemistry with Geno. Don't know anything about Hunt. I've seen UCLA's TE Fauria in the 3rd round. Thoughts?

However, this is all contingent on the Chiefs beating out the Jaguars for the top spot.

If the Jags get it, they could take Smith or trade down to numerous teams and we're once again screwed.

I like Smith as well as any QB in recent memory. If they **** this up, I'm really going to be super duper pissed off.

The good news is the looked semi-decent with Henne and have a bit of a soft schedule coming up. Hopefully Blackmon keeps it going and Parmele helps them along as well. If they beat TEN Sunday and we lose we would basically be 1.5 games ahead with the SOS tiebreaker.

Gabbert is currently not playing so the Jags should hopefully get two or more wins

Me too. Shit, they almost beat the Texans and probably should have.

I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Tennessee by 2 scores.

We've got Tavon Austin in McCluster.

We're seeing a lot of Austin in watching Geno, but McCluster was crazy explosive at the same stage. Very similar. Probably not as top end fast as Austin, but had a lot of the same traits.

This team needs a goddamn decent QB. The line, if healthy and Asamoah or Allen decide to pull their head out of their asses, is a good line. (Also contingent upon Albert resigning. If Barrett Jones is there in the second and Albert is not resigned, I'd make that pick.)

The skill positions are very good. If they pick Smith, I'm pretty sure they will be able to work out a deal with Bowe versus having to franchise him again. I'd even sign Hillis up again. It's a different game when opposing defenses have to worry about a passing game versus stacking the box with eight, nine guys every play.

Guys like him depend on accurate QBs. That being said he has lacked an ability to make people miss.

No way Woods lasts that long.

I'll take Cordarrelle Patterson in the 2nd.

Other than the fact that he doesn't make plays, drops tons of balls at a rate that makes Bowe look like a HOFer, and turns the ball over at an insane rate, he's great.

Geno Smith and Barrett Jones would be ****ing awesome. This year there really looks like there will be some 1st round talent that drops into the late 2nd round.

I wouldn't mind using a later pick (4th or 5th) to trade up a few spots from our 3rd round pick back into round 2 to get a CB like David Amerson or Xavier Rhodes.

1. Geno Smith QB
2. Barrett Jones LG
2. David Amerson CB (trade up)

I would love that.

Cassel has made everyone on that offense look like shit other than Charles. (And as such, how ****ing good would he be with the pressure off his ass.) Our receivers lead the league in dropped balls all the ****ing time. Why? Probably because Cassel throws some of the most awkward shit balls of all time. It's why guys like Geno Smith have great completion percentages and guys playing with Cassel drop everything in sight.

Cassel hangs dudes up, even on screen passes. Of course guys drop shit because they are worried about being decapitated every goddamn pass from that pile of monkey shit.

Dex drops WELL-THROWN balls because he sucks. Every ball he has dropped this year has been well thrown.

And of course when the ball is in his hands he sucks too. No big plays. And turnovers galore.
