Why did Alex Smith show up to camp?
Just curious because he could have held out and demanded an $80 million+ contract and the Chiefs would have been forced to pay him
Is Alex that great of a guy that he would sacrifice his future for the Chiefs? It's well know that he is the most charitable man in the NFL, but this is a little different given that the main beneficiaries are the Chiefs ownership http://www.deseretnews.com/article/8...st.html?pg=all So what do you think about Alex's decision? |

I have no idea why anyone would think Alex Smith would NOT show up.
He's under contract He's not grossly underpaid He's the starting QB. He doesn't want traded I can't think of any QB who's held out under those circumstances. |

He showed up because: he has already made a ton of money, he's making good money this year, he's a leader, he knows Reid loves him and he gets to wear a neon pinny which means nobody can touch him thus greatly lowering his chance of injury in camp.

Exactly, when was the last time a starting QB was injured in camp?

Alex Smith showed up for lots of reasons. For starters, nearly 10 million of them.
Not only that, if he holds out, Chiefs dont HAVE to pay him. Also, as said above, there is little injury risk. So what the **** kind of troll thread is this? |

There's no way he wouldn't show up.
He's already wealthy, so an unlikely injury would suck, but wouldn't crush his world. He has always recognized how important OTAs and camps are to establish chemistry with players, and a deeper understanding of the yr 2 system. He does want that long-term deal, but has enough confidence in himself to work through the year to get it, if necessary. Not showing up could and would adversely affect that goal. Dude just wants his team to be a winner. Not showing up only hurts that primary goal.
